One day they'll figure out that moving around a show's time slot can have consequences.
9:30 on Saturday morning was just a thuddingly dumb decision and I don't know anybody who agreed with the time slot change. Trying to use the show to be the anchor of and boost ratings for the channel's Saturday morning schedule didn't make sense when they knew good and well a lot of people who regularly watched the series wouldn't be able to be in front of their TVs that early and enjoy it.

What did they expect? 9:30 on a Saturday morning isn't exactly the Seinfeld slot for any television show, I don't care what it is.

Are all the people who protested for an end to the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War going to now turn around and protest against the ending of the Clone War? I just don't see it, and Lucas should be prosecuted for starting the war in the first place.

Disney confirms that Dave Filoni is still a part of the team. It makes sense that if you wanted to continue doing animated Star Wars, your going to want to keep the guy who knows how to do it best. But it's still good to hear confirmation.

Disney Channels Worldwide boss Gary Marsh also said the company is “working closely with LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy and director Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) to explore new Star Wars content for our platforms,” to be detailed later this year.

Awesome news. As much as I never cared for the setting or characters in TCW, it's hard to deny what a great job the creative team did with the show, and it'd be a shame if Lucasfilm didn't continue to use them.

Agreed. Except for the not liking stories set during the Clone Wars bit. It's not my favorite era of Star Wars history by a stretch but it was ripe for a lot of deep exploration as very little had ever been depicted before five years ago.

Filoni and his team have done a gold medal job of producing some very mature and thoughtful stories and they're probably better equipped to make SW animation than anybody else is. I'm looking forward to hearing about any future projects.

as very little had ever been depicted before five years ago.
Other than everything they put out between 2002 and 2005.

Yeah, there was a pretty consistent stream of stories set during the period between the release of AoTC and ROTS.
Very, very glad the at least Filoni will be sticking around.

Re: Breaking News: THE CLONE WARS Has Been Cancelled

Oh, I meant dating back to 1977. The entirety of SW history and lore until 2008.

It's true we saw the start and end of the wars in Episodes II and III and the Tartakovsky animated microseries and related stories in-between, but even that wasn't a whole lot. The Filoni series surpassed all that by parsecs.

I do wish Durge the bounty hunter had returned in the new series, though. Great villain.

As enjoyable as the Tartakovsky incarnations of the Clone Wars was (and having run a Star Wars message board in the buildup to ROTS, I enjoyed the heck out of that show) ... it positively PALES in comparison to the Filoni-helmed Clone Wars series. And rightly so. Filoni's 22-minute-per-episode series allowed for greater character, theme, and story exploration than Tartakovsky had any opportunity to do.

Re: Breaking News: THE CLONE WARS Has Been Cancelled

The 3- and 10-minute microepisodes made by Tartakovsky were outstanding and fun, but when all put together don't add up to that much screen and story time to depict the wars. Very little character development of any kind was achieved. Season 1 of the Filoni series all by itself blew the microseries out of the water.

It's like the difference between throwing a rocket and firing one.

Got this link from Star Wars youtube website, where Dave Filoni, the supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, promises new stories arcs from the Clone Wars. With the series cancelled, i am guessing movies.

Re: Breaking News: THE CLONE WARS Has Been Cancelled

One theory is that Disney XD will air the remaining stories in some sort of heavily hyped marathon or over the course of a few weeks, then they'll all be put on DVD and BluRay or even edited together into one long animated movie and then released at retail.

I imagine it won't be too much longer before Lucasfilm reveals the actual plans for the unaired stories.

Disney is going to be holding their annual Star Wars Weekends event between May 7th and June 9th down in Orlando. If they have anything to announce, my guess is that would be their chosen time to do it.

Or they'll wait for Celebration Europe II in late July.

Why did they even make S6 when S5 wasn't even done airing? Does every animated show make episodes so far in advance these days? Isn't that a huge waste of money when the show is canceled like this?
