That thing is so very beautiful, Mach7. I'm envious.

Did anyone on the board ever get ahold of this kit?

It was supposed to be as accurate as you could possibly get with modern materials.
Yup:

That is just perfect! Thanks for posting--and at Vasquez rocks, too!

Re: All About the Communicator

Hey, Mach7, now I know why your name sounds familiar. When I went to file your mouth-watering Vasquez photo, I saw it again: my folder for the John Long kit already includes your work in progress pics from HobbyTalk. I scooped them up back in January 2010. I don't get over to HobbyTalk very often, but it's always got something fun to see.

Bumping into you here really highlights what a small world it is, this love of the communicator we have.

Re: All About the Communicator

Thanks,

Vasquez is a special place, I make it a point to go whenever I can. In fact I was just there yesterday along with the Bat cave and the power plant from the Invaders pilot.

The John Long kit is great! I recommend it to anyone with moderate model building skills.
The only thing I recommend changing on it is the crystals. The originals had 8 faceted Swarovski jewels, The current Swarovski jewels have 7 or 11 facets. Long substituted modern, less brilliant 8 facets but I think the Swarovski's have a much better shine.
