SPOCK: Interesting.
KIRK: (pushing the gear lever and making grinding noises) Oops! Gears.
SPOCK: Yes. Oh. I believe they had a device known as a clutch. Clutch, Captain. Perhaps one of those pedals on the floor.
KIRK: (puts it quietly into gear) I kind of like this. I'm going to get one myself.





Trekcore just posted new rare photos for March
and this one really blew me away

I'm still speechless.

There has been another one (Kirk standing with one leg on the vehicle) I've desperately tried for years to get a hold of, but the one Trekcore posted is even better and absolutely fantastic.

The only thing that's apparently not so great is the background. Maybe some Trek BBS members with photoshopping skills might want to do something with this great shot.

This photo has already been Photoshopped because it's been colorized--the original is in black and white. You can tell because the rear glass behind Shatner's head has been inadvertently yellowed.

Time-Life took a series of photos of Gene Winfield standing next to Shatner and/or the Reactor when it was used on "Bread and Circuses." A few of the pictures have been released. Many more have not.

Wonderful, more pictures. I note that the main base is from a French Citroen ID-19 that made an appearance as a future taxi cab in "Back to the Future II".

Apparently, this car most definitely comes from the future.

Great thread! Lots of info on a subject I've been curious about.

The pic of Shatner in costume sitting in the car is a little jarring because that kind of thing never happened on ST. The characters were seen riding in a surface vehicle only twice in TOS, in "A Piece of the Action" and "Patterns of Force." It wouldn't happen again until ST-IV.

I don't recall them being in a vehicle in "Patterns Of Force." I do recall them in a ground vehicle in TAS' "Jihad."

I have affection for TAS but don't consider it canon.

The car scene in "Patterns of Force" is when Kirk, Spock, Isak, and Daras arrive at the Nazi HQ building posing as documentarians. If I recall correctly, it's strongly implied that Kirk and Spock were in the car. I could be wrong; the DVD is at home.
