Re: Mirror Universe Janeway

I know. I've read a few of the earlier ones. I've got a pile of them from a garage sale but I have given up real books for the kindle now so I doubt I'll get to them soon. But I'd be interested in that trilogy.

What is the name of this trilogy? I haven't kept up with Shatnerverse.
Spectre, Dark Victory and Preserver. I very much enjoyed them.

Re: Mirror Universe Janeway

Dark Victory? That's so old I saw it last time I was in a book shop.

Shatner fights his mirror universe counter part who just happens to be the Emperor of the Terran Empire... But isn't that an incredibly conceited approach? That Spock's peace movement had no effect? Possibly even that the first thing Young Kirk did when he got back to his own Universe was kill Spock, just to make 50 minutes of programming in the 60s irrelevant?

You either haven't read the books, hombre, or you've completely forgotten them. Spock's peace movement did work... it worked too well. To divulge more would be to spoil.

And while the Kirk it portrays feels a lot like Shatner, yeah, I doubt he had much to do with anything that wasn't Kirk.

You should definitely give 'em a try, teacake! I'd love to hear what you'd think of 'em.

Re: Mirror Universe Janeway

I read the first one which compared Borg cubes to lego bricks that assemble together to create huge geometric shapes/patterns rather than fly in formation.

It came off as ego stroking and I couldn't go any further.

Of course if Jude and Gar's name had been on the cover, I would have steamed through.

Huh? I just re-read the first one, and don't recall that at all. There's only a mention or two of the Borg in the first book to boot.

Re: Mirror Universe Janeway

Well, I read it 15 years ago, so my memories are scarred in.

If Kirk got control of the collective he would so write his name in cubes across the stars.

I think he's talking about The Return, not the first part of the MU saga. But honestly, the Borg hypercube is in the same realm of dumb as the Borg supercube from the current novel continuity.

^ That would make sense. Yeah, as much as the MU trilogy kicks ass, I'm not at all interested in a story of how the Borg resurrect Kirk in order to harness the universal constant that is his awesome. He died in Generations, he got better, and the MU books start a few years later. And they only very vaguely and rarely mention the Return events at all.

Definitely hotter.

Mirror Ezri, Jadzia and Hoshi are as hot as it gets in terms of Trek babes.

It's not because they're pretty, it's because they're assholes.

Emotionally Hideous, ethically unbound women are just hotter.

Even though she's green with a chin you can hang a coat on, Elphaba is still way sexier than Glinda in the 1939 flick.

This is very true. The more emotionally damaged, the better...
