Yes - they are neither friends nor acquaintances of Abrams.
And they are joking - you can tell that by what they are actually saying.

Shatner was not joking, but insulting an acquaintance - you can also tell that by what he was saying.
This won't change regardless of you being unable of processing it/not wanting to accept it/whatever.
As such, deal with it - instead of trying to hand wave with out of context quotes and irrelevancies.
