George Takei speaks out...

Interesting interview with George Takei. He talks about Trek, using his status to speak out, social media and more.

Re: George Takei speaks out...

I admire his courage. It's not easy to criticise America, her government and her people. Only someone who is famous may do that without being flamed and attacked.

What really hit me, though, was this sentence:
George Takei wrote:
“My life mission has been to raise the awareness in America of a World War II chapter of our history when innocent American citizens, simply because they looked like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor, were incarcerated,”
It's scary how history keeps repeating itself:
In the 40s it was innocent Japanese-Americans who got incarcerated for looking Japanese.
In the 50s it was all kinds of innocent Americans who got incarcerated for looking like communists.
In 2002 innocent Americans got incarcerated (and still are) for looking like Iraqi.

At least the intervalls get longer. But it'd be nice if there were no 4th round. And if #3 would finally be closed.
