So basically every Avengers movie is going to be a massive alien invasion of Earth? There's always Ultron or Kang... Still, I think that'd be cool to see!

I don't know. "Every" seems a bit strong on the basis of one movie and a rumor.

It's waaay too early to start spotting trends, I think.

Let's talk again after we've seen three or four AVENGERS movies.

Yeah, I'd be happy with most of those. After hearing that Patrick Dempsey has wanted it for a few years now I'm inclined to hope that he gets the role.

I love the dark horse suggestions of Hugh Laurie and Aiden Gillen but I seriously doubt either of them would happen. However, keep Eric Bana and Joseph Fiennes far away from this!

I bet Oded Fehr would make a cool Dr. Strange. He has the look, and he's played Dr. Fate in DC animation, so he's familiar with the character type.

He's been my top pick ever since they started talking about doing the movie. He's a versatile actor who should be in more visible roles (imho).

ETA: So...is Captain Tightpants going to be Hank Pym? I just keep thinking of that bit between him and RDJ after Castle that one time...

You wouldn't know with Marvel, they're quite brave in their casting choices. No-one saw Ed Norton, Robert Downey Jr or Mark Ruffalo coming. I agree that those choices might be unlikely (Laurie is probably less of an outside choice than Gillen) but I wouldn't rule them out.

It's an alien invading army from space/other dimension, and not just an earth-bound foe. __________________
