New Jonathan Creek Easter Special

I know there are a few Jonathan Creek fans here who might be interested in this.

From BBC Media Centre

Jonathan Creek will be returning to BBC One in a brand new 90-minute special this Easter and the BBC today reveals casting details.

In Jonathan Creek: The Clue Of The Savant's Thumb, Alan Davies returns in the title role, assisted once again by Sheridan Smith (Quartet, Accused, Gavin & Stacey) as fellow investigator Joey Ross.

Also returning is Rik Mayall (Bottom, The New Statesman, Blackadder and The Young Ones) in his role as DI Gideon Pryke.

The guest cast list for the episode will include: Sarah Alexander (Me And Mrs Jones, The Worst Week, The Jury, Green Wing), Joanna Lumley (The Wolf Of Wall Street, Absolutely Fabulous), Nigel Planer (I Give It A Year, The List, The Hunt For Tony Blair, plus new West End musical Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) and Hasina Haque (Casualty, I Give

It A Year).

In The Clue Of The Savant's Thumb, Creek and fellow investigator Joey Ross are drawn into a complex case involving a secret society, seemingly supernatural events at a girls' boarding school, and the miraculous disappearance of a body in front of three witnesses.

Written and directed by the show's creator David Renwick, filming is currently underway in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire & Hertfordshire.

I'll watch it though clearly the last two installments were lacking so its probably time to wrap up the character sooner rather than later.

Woo-Hoo!!

I saw Alan mention this on the Graham Norton show and was very happy indeed. I just adore Jonathan Creek and would love to see just one more.
Yes, the last two were not that great and the actress/sidekick is so dull that I can't even remember her---BUT---I love the character of Jonathan Creek, so seeing him again will definitely be a treat.

Davies also mentioned on Graham Norton that he hoped they would do more for later in the year. I guess it will depend on how the Easter one is received.

I'll look forward to it, but personally I find the 90 minute format doesn't work as well as the old 45 minute episodes, they have to pad them out a bit much.

Plus I still miss Maddie...

I miss Maddie, too. She was the perfect partner for Jonathan.
