Big Finish Deals

Celebrating their 15th Anniversary Big Finish are doing 15 sales, one starting every day. I've mostly been picking up the monthly stuff extra cheap, but now they've started doing the miniseries and I'm wondering if they're actually any good. I picked up yesterday's UNIT lot (still available to today) but today's is I, Davros.

Worth it? I ask, because I recently listened to Cyberman and was less than impressed.

IMO, must listens for first-time listeners:

The Villains Trilogy - Omega (Fifth Doctor), Davros (Sixth) and Master (Seventh). All of them pretty damn amazing.
Spare Parts (Fifth)
Holy Terror (Sixth)
Love and War (adaptation of the eponymous novel) (Seventh)
Storm Warning and Chimes of Midnight (Eighth Doctor)
The Four Doctors (Eight, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh)

Just some random selection of my faves. If you can find any of these, get them.

Re: Big Finish Deals

I, Davros is absolutely worth it. Great back history on Davros and Skaro in general, complete with Peter Miles reprising his role as Nyder in the final story. As the title hints, the brilliant I, Cladius is an obvious influence, so if you've seen and enjoyed that mini-series, you'll love I, Davros.

So far, I haven't been able to really take advantage of most of the sales so far; a combination of already owning most of the titles offered (bad timing on my part when I bought UNIT - Dominion just last week!) or I'm not interested. I did pick up Time Works and Memory Lane early on and both turned out to be great stories.

Re: Big Finish Deals

Thanks guys. I, Davros bought. A fiver a mini-series I can definitely do.

Today's is Companion Chronicles and Eighth Doctor Adventures. No Peri and the Piscon Paradox unfortunately. Anyone got anything good to say about the four that remain?

As for the Eighth Doctor... WOOHOO!

None of those CC's are the best of the series but all but the Romana one are worth a listen. William Russell & Katy Manning are two of the best narrators the series has.

The only one of those I heard was The Time Museum, but I quite liked it-- some clever stuff with the Doctor's impact on Ian: http://unreality-sf.net/2012/09/25/d...s-goss-review/

Re: Big Finish Deals

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

I've primarily only listened to BF's 8th Doctor audios, though I haven't bought any for a few years. That $5 sale price is fantastic, though I've already gotten S1 of the Lucie Miller stories. If it had been S2, I definitely would have picked up a few. I'll keep my eye on the site though for further sales of interest.

Re: Big Finish Deals

Today is Jago & Litefoot day. With some Short Trips thrown in.

Got Rise and Fall from ST1 last year when they gave it away and really liked it. Thinking of picking up Short Trips 2. The 6th and 8th Doctor stories sound kinda interesting here.
