Which begs an interesting question. If Kes can only have children when she's in her sticky-hands phase, it follows that intimacy is only pleasurable to Ocampa in that phase. Yet, in Before & After Tom married her. So you have to think, did she fake it every single time except for that one time, which was probably not very enjoyable to Tom because he had to stay chemically stuck to her for four days?

This has interesting implications for Kes' self esteem.

And as an aside, even though I hated Neelix' jealous streak I think it was the most interesting thing about his character.

It's very possible it was.
Living underground wasn't their natural habitat.
Due to that, they had already lost their survival skills and mental powers. It could have been why there was a movement among Ocampian youth to want to leave.
