Misdirection. She's really Dehner. We know from the hair.
That wouldn't be misdirection, that would be flat out lying, which isn't really Bad Robot's style. Silly half-truths, vague implications of what might be, or won't not be. Sometimes they might deny something which actually turns out to be true (like the ending of Lost). And fuck knows they're not to be trusted if they say they'll have a script done by the end of the month. But when they actually do reveal a fact, it is fact, and therefore if they say Alice Eve is playing Carol Marcus, then Alice Eve is playing Carol Marcus. End of discussion.

After all that Delta Vega shit, it wouldn't surprise me if they suddenly say "She's not THAT Carol Marcus, wink wink".

Well, that's certainly possible.

I always thought Carol was (in the prime timeline) the lab technician whom Gary Mitchell fixed up with Kirk...
That lab tech could be any of several blondes with a science background that Kirk knew.
But given that Kirk "nearly married" the one Gary Mitchell hooked him up with and that he and Carol had a son together, it stands to reason that Carol is the one they were talking about.

And that's the story I stubbornly stick to and refuse to be convinced otherwise about.
Early drafts of TWOK used Janice Wallace in the Marcus role.

The only "shit" was fanboys going apeshit over the namedrop.

Why would Alice Eve agree to the gratuitous lingerie scene if she wants to be taken seriously as a Starfleet Scientist?

Dude lingerie is not gratuitous, it's universal. I'm wearing underwear right now.

She's an actress who trusts her director and screenwriters.

How do you know it's gratuitous?

Last movie we saw Kirk, Uhura and Gaila in their underwear.

Re: Dr. Carol Marcus

Abrams and his Cohorts are ruining Star Trek by showing people in their underwear. At this rate, there won't be any Starfleet uniforms in Trek XIII, just everyone roaming the ship in their underwear.

Oh remember the purity of Star Trek under Roddenberry when everyone was fully dressed and to skin was shown? Wait, what the fuck am I talking about, Star Trek has been a haven for quality T&A.

Star Trek into Dubai?

She's showing a scandalous amount of hand there, though. It's getting me a little hot and bothered, to be honest.

And she's still showing her eyes, the hussy!. That's it, the movie is ruined. JJ killed Star Trek. TOS never showed women dressed this little clothing. Clearly JJ hate Star Trek
