So, was this "relationship" with Kenya planned from the beginning by Datak and carried out by Stahma... or did Stahma plan it from the beginning and let him in on it when it could suit him?
Good question, but I suspect the latter.

When in doubt, assume Stahma is pulling the strings . . . .

Datak basically is Stahma's bitch. She just let's him think he's in charge.

Yeah, it's pretty clear that Stahma is the manipulative one in the relationship. She just relies on guile, charisma, and seduction to get what she wants, such as how she stopped Datak from blowing up all over their son in this episode when he questioned his motives.

Stahma is the mastermind. Datak is the blunt instrument that she wields and applies like a scalpel.

But she's not very clever at hiding her glee about this masterhood of her husband to the evaluation of human eyes.

I swear I can telepathically hear her cackle.

I thought this was one of the best episodes so far. I do agree that there was no way they could be sure Nolan would be the one to react to the Alak's friend, but I enjoyed the stuff around it enough that I'm willing to overlook that. Datak's been one of my favorite characters in the series, and I thought they did some pretty interesting stuff with him in this one. I really liked that we finally got some answers about Irisa's visions, and it was not at all the answers I was expecting.
I can't wait to see what happens in the finale next week.

Having Nolan kill the boy was simply the best possible outcome for Datak.

If a deputy shot the boy, they could still blame it on Nolanfor being the one who issued the order. If they merely arrested the boy, hey its just a kid with a toy gun.. let him go. Whatever the outcome, they had nothing to loose

I was really hoping the mayor would actually be killed.

Are Julie's deathscenes in Angel and Dexter old faithfuls from your wankbank?

Didn't she die on ROSWELL, too?

(Not a hundred percent sure. That was a long time ago.)

Enjoying the series so far. The "mystery object" part has probably been my least favourite. It hasn't grabbed me in why I should care about it.

I thought that Kenya was going to get a glowing knife to the abdomen when she confronted Stahma at her home and was surprised she walked out alive. However, I guess her word might not carry too much weight. She is the mayor's sister and it can be dismissed as bias and she also was in a (short) relationship with Nolan. Throw in the fact she's a madam and we've seen that not everyone is thrilled with her line of work or business the Tars could find it easier to dismiss any claims she makes.

Glad to see that it will be coming back for a second season and am hoping for a great season finale.

So what's the deal with Good Irisa, Evil Irisa and the magic golden knot.

^What do you mean by "Evil Irisa?" The only "other Irisa" who appeared here was her younger self, the preadolescent one who appeared in her visions.

Maybe he means Rynn (spelling?) who appeared at the end?

They possibly need to find a way to visually differentiate the Irathient females more. I have at least one friend who has trouble telling them apart--and I'm not sure I would have recognized Rynn if Irisa hadn't addressed her by name.

Re: The Defiance Thread - News about the Show and Game

I can't tell them apart! Who was that at the end, Rynn?! I never heard her say the name, I thought it was some other half of Irisa!

Now I feel real stupid.
