Re: The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!
1 - Alice Eve has been made to look like a ringer for Sally Kellerman in the role of Dr. Elizabeth Denner. Perhaps unintentional red herring, but this is the movies and they could have made her hair a lot nicer than what she consistently has in this trailer. 2 - Looking at IMDB list of cast/crew. Cumberbatch has top position (no role given), then Pine as Kirk and then Alice Eve. Like Cumberbatch no role listed, but #3 on the list is significant and in the second pilot (no man) her role was crucial in the dynamics between Kirk and Mitchell. Not a bit part if she is #3. 3 - Dr. Denner was a psychiatrist on the Enterprise. Thus medical branch and uniform blue. In her second appearance in this spot, Alice Eve is wearing the sciences blue. 4 - Early in the spot - shows Alice Eve looking at Kirk and Pine doing the Kirk 'well hello...' thing we all know Kirk did so well anytime fresh femme meat came on board. In the pilot same dynamic - Kirk noticed, Dr. Denner ignores and goes with Gary Mitchell instead. 5 - Remember - this is reboot thus not canon. Could very well be that Mitchell didn't die in this universe, but Kirk thought he had him in a neutralized position (i.e. marooned on planet with Dr. Denner and markers to avoid planet). Hence the reference to being back. 6 - The summary itself gives us "one man weapon of mass destruction". Gary Mitchell had acquired unlimited powers. That would pretty much qualify him as a weapon of mass destruction. Kahn and Green were powerful, but they couldn't destroy by themselves - they needed assistants, tools, weapons to do that. Gary Mitchell's psi capability would be a weapon in itself and under his control making him a 'one man' weapon. 7 - Going back to the Japanese teaser - the two hands. Not vulcan hand salute, but simple fingers trying to touch through glass - human form. In the pilot, Dr. Denner reaches out - fingers spread - as she dies. Granted she was reaching out to Mitchell in pilot, but then alternate universe and Abrams can play with the dice. Could easily be her behind containment barrier as she dies...just a thought. |

Re: The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!
1. Is there a point to not revealing anything? 2. With that woman in the blue uniform, I feel Gary Mitchell. And that the movie explains that Gary Mitchell was a latent god whose powers were activated by the Great Barrier in Timeline 1.0 and something else in Timeline 2.0, not that the Great Barrier can turn people randomly into gods. 3. Of course I would also not be surprised to see that it was Harry Mudd, Khan, that Guy Who Framed Kirk for Murder, Jack the Ripper, Captain Garth, Kodos (sp?) the Executioner, one of Kirk's Klingon friends turned human, or Chief Kyle two years after Kirk gave him the redshirt treatment. Oh, or David Marcus who has come back in time to avenge Kirk for the life he led in this universe with the woman in the blue uniform being Carol Marcus. |

Re: The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!
The engines are the same... after looking at them and building them over and over, it's pretty obvious. Like Vektor said, it's just the perspective that makes them look different. If you look closely, you can see the rim of the saucer starting to come through the water, too...-Ricky OK, that made me go back and look at the 720p version, full screen, on my 24" monitor...... It's the Big-E coming out of the water ... I'm so ashamed ... I'll turn in my geek-card. Q2

Re: The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!
While it might be good for us here on the boards to know whether he's Mitchell or not it might be problematic for a wider audience whose knowledge of Star Trek is limited to Captain Kirk, Mister Spock and the bald French guy with the English accent. A lot of people might go: "It's not Khan? Meh. I'll skip it then." The longer the studio goes without a full reveal the better for their eventual business.
