Going There: Alien Genitals

What do you think different races' genitals would look like? On the one hand you'd think they'd have different (alien) parts down there but on the other...well...most Trek races are humanoid in every other way - they're probably human genital-ed as well.

The official novels have also hinted that Klingon and Bajoran ridges are not limited to their heads...

Just imagine how complicated it would be for the Andorians? Four sexes, thats a lot of different parts to interlock.

I'd imagine, take the distinguishing features of the various aliens and apply them to "standard" uhm... 'junk' and... there you go.

You know, so like Vulcan stuff would be a bit more pointy. Klingons, lots of forehead-type ridges. Bajorans, very subtle small area of ridges. Cardassians, neck ridges and the forehead spoon thing. Romulans, pointy and some sort of reference to the brow ridge...

But yeah, you've got to give credence to the idea that it's all the same basic equipment with variations. Especially considering how similar the rest of the bodies are to one another.

I imagine it's only the rare instance of huge divergence, like that alien prisoner at rura penthe in Star Trek VI with the knee-nuts...

also i reckon the andorians are glad the four sexes stuffs all non-canonical. makes it much easier for them ;P

Also, remember that in Trek, virtually ever species can mate with every other species, so unless there's a whole lotta surgery going on, things must be... uhm... compatible.

This topic kinda reminds me of the Don Martin comic from an issue of Mad Magazine from around the time of Wrath of Khan that suggested that Vulcan women have pointed breasts....

I wonder why we never had any hint of a Londo Mollari type incident.. or maybe I don't wonder as this is Star Trek.

The message given is compatibility but there would be huge size differences I'd imagine. I'm sure some species consider others a sexual bonanza whereas others are going to have serious challenges in that area.

I don't remember the Bajoran part, I just remember Bajoran girls giggling over Cardassian's having ridges down there in Terok Nor.

Some species need genetic manipulation in order to reproduce together, for instance, Klingons and Trills.

I think based on The Chase it's safe to assume most races have similar shape and most have compatible genes.
