Re: New Frontier?
Sure, but what about the many fans that do care about inter-novel continuity? And the Crucible trilogy was never meant to be apart of the inter-novel continuity. Plagues of Night and Raise the Dawn were. Hell, the events in that book are VITAL to what will occur within the inter-novel continuity now and in the future. Now people who care about such things will have to ignore a few continuity errors that takes place in both books. It's just annoying that a mistake like this one was made. It seems like it could have been avoided, especially considering what David A. McIntee had to say about this entire debacle. Last edited by ICW; February 19 2013 at 10:04 AM. Reason: Damn coding! |

Re: New Frontier?
Those are both easily repaired. ST authors, get on it!

Re: New Frontier?
You can't please all of the people all of the time. Who knows? Maybe the audience is 50% for continuity and 50% against? We do know that not every ST collector even buys/reads every novel.

Re: New Frontier?
) but I'd like to see it brought back and tied into The Continuity again. Even if the series ends, some of the characters could be transferred and put on good use elsewhere (like Tuvok after the end of the first VOY Relaunch).Just my personal opinion, but I am one of those appreciating continuity. That's why I watch series like ST, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, My Little Pony, etc. - because what happens in one episode may influence another. That's why I don't watch The Simpsons or read TOS 5YM. In my humble opinion, to the don't-care-about-Continuity reader it doesn't matter whether IFM fits in or not, it's just a great read, some random adventure in a shiny fictional universe. But to those valuing The Continuity these adventures are not random but part of a mosaic forming a complex, diverse universe. /my 2 cents

Re: New Frontier?
I'm doing a complete novelverse read from DS9 relaunch through the present books. I am currently just beginning the Time For series and haven't read any NF. I'm considering both if and when I should add those, because its a pretty daunting add on. |

Re: New Frontier?
Plagues of Night and Raise the Dawn on the other hand were supposed to fit with established continuity hell these books had the resolution to a lot of plots and the furthering of some others. You can't have all of that off in its own little universe that is mostly separate from where the plots started and the ones still ongoing will end. |
