IDW is notorious for reusing designs even if they don't fit. But, seeing as how this is supposed to be the future of the Narada timeline, it makes sense that Klingon ships look similar to that of the ships in the Khitomer Incident.

Honestly, I find it funny that people complain that the Klingons having the Narada for 25 years and not learning anything from it. But then its revealed they did in fact learn stuff from it and incorporated it into their ships designs aka common sense people complain about that.

Besides, Klingons do tend to hold onto a ship design for decades or even centuries...

Well thats becuase unlike the Federation they build their ships to last.

Seriously a Vintage D7 was able go tow to tow with Voyager.
