It was a fun enough story but once again I found that due to the 2 issue format there was no real story, just build up which they always do well, then one scene, and then conclusion. I need moooore!
^Just wait until "The Q Gambit" starts next month. 6 issues of Q-ness. . .
AND it's somewhat of a DS9 crossover...

And from the most recent solicitations (or at the least, the covers), looks like it will include some really interesting machinations involving Worf:

I wonder if an issue of The Q Gambit will have Janeway and Q Junior. I thought the Q trilogy on Voyager was great.

So, Kirk and the gang are travelling into the future where they meet Worf? Can't wait to see how they handle that.

The Defiant looks battle-scarred. Wonder what's the cause of that. And Abramsverse Kirk and Spock fighting alongside Kira? This should be good if they can fit it into just a few pages.

It looks nice, although I'm a little disappointed that events pick up immediately after Countdown. I think I'd have preferred it to be one year later, so Spock having survived has a bit more gravitas.

And what is up with those little tufts of hair above Picard's ears??

Seconded! What the hell is going on there? Is that a colouring error, or is it a previously unseen new hair style from the late 2380's? The issue looks pretty nice though. Nice artwork. I may have to pick it up..

The art is superb and the story looks promising.

Really pumped for this - hope it isn't another Assimilation2 disappointment!

Do we get to see any new ships or species?

No, there is too many other story elements happening for those to be seen.

I am really excited about the new universe crossing over into the classic 24th century.
This does make me think about the continuity of the novel range. If I understand correctly, the Countdown version of Picard and by virtue the 24th century era in general, is meant to be a different continuity from the novel range. Right?

Correct. Countdown's version of Data is incompatible with what we've seen in the novels.
