Ah Counterpoint, when Janeway possibly gets it on with a wookie. Some people despise him and some people think he's quite hot. He is not really Janeway's type, she likes the warm hearted handyman with intellect. Workforce guy. Mark. Chak in Resolutions (hey, he was building stuff). Sullivan who could tend bar and read poetry. I can't really picture Kashyyyk at a lamb birthing or putting up a back porch on Sunday afternoon. I can't picture him with dirty hands, though his hands are figuratively very dirty. Jut not the sexy kind of manly dirt.

But it's lonely in space when everyone you might like to invite back to your quarters is off limits. And there was a definite chemistry between them.. if nothing else she did enjoy the flirtation, the attention, the game. Did she sleep with him? Someone usually starts screaming and puking at this suggestion, he is a bit polarizing. I don't think she did but I think she would have if she needed to do it to save her crew. Certainly she was laying the chemistry groundwork to keep the man interested so she could spring her trap.

Although if she was undercover, it wouldn't go against her convictions to sleep with him since figuratively her fingers were crossed.

I really love this episode. It was an intricate piece of art. Terrific storyline. Thrilling to the last moment. And I really love all the between the lines dialogues and the emotions on their faces. Some real, some not. And some real behind fake.

Counterpoint AND Coffee

I always found it an interesting way to hold a cup. Maybe to prevent unwanted things falling into it. Or to keep it warm a little longer. But it has a clear disadvantage: You get a wet hand from the steam.

I figure she's holding it to give herself a look of control.

I just watched all the vids again and I think Degeneration and the Adele one are my favorites. The Degeneration one really captures a lot of Janeway's arch looks.

That is terrible! Someone must know a way around this.. I know I run into that at times and there is something I do, but it's been a while and I can't recall what it was

I'm going to freshly watch Counterpoint so I can contribute intelligently to this thread rather than my usual "omg janeway" level of posting.

This was an episode I enjoyed a lot. So many facets and levels, wheels within wheels this episode operated on. Really if Janeway was consistently written the way she was in this episode, I would have enjoyed the character a lot more.

Yay, the thread is up!

I love this episode too, so much great stuff. The manipulation, deception and flirtation all play into the really intricate story of this episode, and I so love how Janeway and Kashyk both play this game of power and manipulation, with Janeway outwitting him in the end.

And plus the chemistry between Janeway and Kashyk is undeniable. Like I said in another thread, this episode just oozes sexual tension.

And I love the videos and pics. Some of those vids are personal favourites of mine, teacake.

Now that I'm done with TNG Season 1 on Blu-Ray, maybe it might be time to come back and continue Voyager Season on my rewatch. I really do like this episode, but it's been a while since I've seen it.

Now this isn't a very clear video but I least I found it.. is it my imagination or when Janeway says, "you know the way to my ready room" to Kashyk does Chakotay look a little.. perturbed? He glances at her as she leaves and I wonder if he's thinking, "she never talks to ME like that.."

Video starts just before this scene.. I think it's a lot clearer on dvd though.

Nah, I'd agree with you on that. Chakotay seems a little surprised, almost doing a double-take during that scene. It's as if he's thinking "Wait, did she seriously just say that to him?!"



Poor Chuckles just can't catch a break. She'll say "In my readyroom!" to the Inspector, but not to the Commander.

I think she was in full on flirt mode and the crew did notice.

Here's another moment, when she is suddenly aware that the security outside of Kashyk's quarters have heard their little, "come, see my etchings" exchange.
