Dance. Whether anyone is watching or not - dance. Get in touch with your body and its natural rhythm, find your place in space and your balance on your own feet. Dance.

Re: One Recommendation

Don't hold yourself apart from other people. Similar to the advice up-thread about saying "yes", if someone - anyone - reaches out to you, accept it and respond. It doesn't have to go anywhere, but take that opportunity to be with someone, to share something and demonstrate that they matter. And don't be ashamed to let people know how much you think of them. We're not meant to be alone, it isn't good for us.

My advice is: No matter what you are confronted with, try to find something to laugh about first -- before any other response, reasoned or emotional, seek out the humor. You don't have to let other people know that you are doing it, but do it for yourself. It's gotten me through everything.
I think this is why I like Larry David, and by extension, Curb Your Enthusiasm, so much. There's a guy who no matter how angry he gets, he just starts laughing the whole way. It's a riot to watch, but I imagine it's an even better way to deal with anger and frustration than just raging.
I often laugh when I'm angry, which really undermines me. I will be cracking up and also be saying "No, I mean it, I'm really angry!"

Also people this doesn't have to be advice. It can be a recommendation of any sort.

I actually hardly ever get angry. It's so rare, in fact that I the last time was when I lost my old job. I am better at hiding it than Larry David, though!

Way to take my advice and be way more eloquent and pithy than me, bitch!

Well I meant people important to you, people you know. I've been socialising a lot more this year and been getting a lot of hugs, it's made a very shitty year a lot more bearable.

I've gone literally years without meaningful physical contact with other people; the urge to get a hug, or just someone touching you, is so powerful.

This advice reminds me of this comic from last week:

Be nice to those you work with, or work under you. You never know when they might be your boss one day.

Never compose and send texts/emails when intoxicated (though you probably won't remember anyway). Or in anger. Always wait and read again.

Call any vegetable; call it by name. You've got to call one today, when you get off the train. Call any vegetable, and the chances are good that the vegetable will respond to you.

This reminds me for some reason of one of my favorite bits of graffiti on the Williamsburg Bridge -- tangentially, I LOVE the graffiti on that bridge; there is great art mixed in with the plain old tags, and some meaningless but beautiful phrases...my favorite is "DOOM TUBA."
