a forgotten institute

As an Engineer, I would enjoy being posted--either officially or on sabbatical--to the Cochrane Institute on Alpha Centauri.

Maybe some of the great minds there might rub off on me!

Yeah, it's a sad case of how to gain Federation fame. Your new multitronics computer system goes crazy and you wind up committed to an institution. Then they name a science institute after you that becomes the most famous of the 24th century.
