Re: World War Z officially a train wreck

I'm just going to hazard a guess that signing Brad Pitt was what doomed this film. Am I right in thinking that his character does not appear in the novel, and there is no equivalent character who does? They probably rewrote the whole movie just to give him an excuse to be in it - if they took an existing character and cast him in it, he wouldn't have got enough screen time. Can't have Brad Pitt in the movie if he's not the star, can you? (sarcasm)

Yea, he's the producer, it's his movie, so, yea, I would imagine he tailored it to showcase himself

I hope this doesn't suck. The book was great.

On the other hand maybe the story was always too big for a 2 hour movie to do any kind of justice. Perhaps the best format would have been an anthology style mini-series, with the interviewer as the only real constant.
I completely agree. I've wanted to see something like that since I first saw Dawn of the Dead in 79-- which is exactly why I like WWZ so much.

You can't have frozen slow zombies in a movie without getting artsy and non actiony, can you.
Worked just fine for the Borg.

I'll wait for a real trailer before I judge.
First look, and it's over a minute long, isn't that considered a "Real Trailer" (not meant to be a smart-assed remark, I truly ask out of ignorance, if that's not considered a "Real Trailer"
All I saw was that link with some random footage on a nightly news magazine.

Yeah, I know this was just a preview for the trailer, but what we saw of the zombie's is just strange. I don't think I've come across a zombie story with them acting the way they appear to in this.

The JMS script that got leaked last year was a really good adaptation. In that version atleast Pitt's character Gerry Lane is the interviewer from the book.

The first act is your typical Zombie apocalypse then after the first twenty min or so it skips to two years and picks up the books format of travelling around interviewing people and seeing their flashbacks.

Yea, I'm good with either Fast Zombies as in Remake Dawn of the Dead or slow ones as in Original Dawn of the Dead, but, the ones in the Trailer appear that they could outrun The Flash, and that's just too much, IMHO.
Slow moving zombies never made sense to me that they could successfully overrun the entire world including the national guard and the military. Also, too many people in the US own a firearm for even a mass number of slow zombies to overtake a population center IMO.

So, faster zombies are much more believable as a plague that over takes the majority of the population.

That said, I agree - making them faster than the flash would be a dumb mistake.

As someone else said, I'll wait for the real trailer before I pass judgement but I hope they don't go the route of superhero zombies because that would ruin for me the suspension of disbelief in the storyline.

Realistically. You know, like real zombies do.

I just thought I would ask y'know, because the arguments seem a little like complaining when phaser beams are the wrong colour or vampires sparkle in sunlight.
