I'm biased, but it probably is the best book written about a Star Trek series, with a wide range of interviews with actors, writers, directors, composers and SFX directors. The TNG Companion has some interesting comments from the writers, but I remember a lot of it being trivia about references to the original series.

Agreed. Possibly the best of the behind-the-scenes books published about a Trek series. Goes way beyond a lot of the usual puff-piece kind of stuff you tend to see in these sorts of books. Very honest about what the folks making DS9 think they did right, and a lot of stuff they didn't.

Couldn't agree more with what has already been said: The DS9 companion is one of the greatest books about a Trek series – or television show in general! You will love it. I know I do.

I'll put it this way. When Ira Behr was asked who he would like to write a 4400 Companion, he specifically asked for Erdmann.

I ordered it this week too, and it came yesterday! After reading about some of the episodes I have been watching this week, I can vouch that, yes it is awesome. And honest too. There are loads of little diagrams of tech that didn't appear in the episode, but was mentioned. And some nice trivia too.

You won't be disappointed owning this one. Excellent tidbits of information all throughout the book.

It is head and shoulders above the other companion books I've read. You will enjoy it!

And honest too.
That's what I like about it. They aren't afraid to say when an episode was bad ("Let He who is Without Sin" I'm looking at you)

I wish CBS would release it as an Ebook. My copy is a bit frayed.

Agreed. in fact, each one of the Star Trek series companions got better as they went along, with DS9 being the most detailed.

The exception was VOYAGER, which wasn't much beyond a straight episode guide.

Despite my disapointment with that, I still wish they'd do one for ENTERPRISE, but I don't hold out much hope for a book on that.

It's the best Star Trek book I've ever bought. I'm not sure where you could find it though, maybe Amazon.
