I thought George Lucas already had some kind of treatment as did Michael Arendt. It's possible that Luke/Leia were a given in this movie ever since the luncheon Hamill and Fisher had with GL.

Yeah, there is a treatment and a outline of the whole trilogy. You don't involve characters requiring specific actors with out their consent. We know Mark and Carrie were told about it already. That they will be involved is merely reading between the lines. Carrie Fisher probably thinks that is enough for now.

I suspect we will hear some more official on Carrie and Mark's involvement soon. The first two of a series of interviews with Lucas and Kennedy are being released on starwars.com. its clear both those are part of a long interview done on a single day. Its possible later segments will have more big reveals.

One thing is clear they are deliberately teasing us all by slowly disclosing information. I willing to bet Harrison Ford has some role too. But that will be the biggest tease of all.

It's odd, I don't mind seeing an old Luke and Leia, but I really don't like the idea of seeing old man Han.

Which is funny because of the three of them Ford has probably aged the best.

I personally want to see Han and Leia as the parents of a wild-child girl who always seems to be looking for trouble. I just find the idea of Han being totally flummoxed by an 18 year old female version of himself (younger self) to be totally hilarious.

He has, true. But, I don't want to see Han Solo as an old man. There can't be anything but tragedy there. Either he's a burnout, a man child, or a camp version of what he was.

Solo is the type of character that burns out in one epic moment of redemption. He doesn't die of old age.

No, I think the proper thing for Solo is that he is a retired high ranking military officer. Han and Leia should be the patriarch and matriarch of the republic.

What is important for this new series is that even if the old cast returns, they be relegated to secondary roles allowing for a new generation to shine. That fits nicely with the themes of the movie, and would be a nod to the old fans without taking away anything from the younger actors.

The next movie will reveal the ugly truth about wookies. They age in reverse. Endor is actually a wookie retirement community full of senile senior citizens affectionately called Ewoks - a slang term for Elderly Wookie.

Seriously who cares, if Disney can make something good they should be able to make a great movie in the different era without the clutch of of these characters. It SW, not Indian Jones. Its a universe, not a franchise based on a personality.
