Elizabeth Stamatina Fey was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. At the age of five, Fey was in her front yard when a stranger approached her and slashed her face with a knife, leaving her with the signature scar she still carries today. Growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, she recalls a dorky adolescence filled with unplucked eyebrows and perms. In lieu of dating, Fey would have friends over to play party games like Celebrity. The self-proclaimed super nerd went on to study drama at the University of Virginia. She broke through in 1995 on Saturday Night Live as a writer and actress.

Dealing with life in a studio at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 30 Rock centers around Liz Lemon (Tina Fey), who's the head writer of The Girlie Show. When her old boss dies and a new boss comes in (Alec Baldwin), demanding the addition of a volatile former movie star and rebranding the show TGS with Tracy Jordan (Tracy Jordan) in the process, Liz must figure out how to keep things running smoothly without losing her mind.
