He was a fine television director; he'll be missed. I'm surprised Variety didn't pick up this story, although it's possible I missed it.

If you haven't done so, have a look at his body of work as listed in IMDb. Not only a very impressive list of Trek work, he had a very diverse directing background. RIP Mr. Kolbe.

I'm amazed that their aren't any more replies to this yet. Kolbe directed some of the best Trek episodes. He was one of the most well known directors of the shows.
I was already surprised to find out he passed away more then a month ago.
