No...however Logans Run + Soylent Green = AWESOME.
How about Logan's Run + Soylent Green + Hunger Games.

When you turn 21, you have to fight to death against other young people--and the losers get turned into food paste!

"Feed your Hunger Games with Soylent Green!"

^^I assume you'll be writing the novelization?
Hmmm...Klaus, it's been about 24 hours since you asked him, and he's posted replies to several other posts in this thread since then. Have we stumbled onto a Top Secret Project he's not allowed to talk about (Neither confirm, nor deny)?
I wish! But, really, there's no need to novelize LOGAN'S RUN since there's a preexisting novel . . . not that this has always stopped Hollywood before.

(Anyone else remember BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA . . . by Fred Saberhagen? )

Me, I would just slap the key art for the new movie on the original novel and hope for the best. Most of the time that sells better than a straight novelization . . . .

If he told us he'd have to send us to Carousel...

Actually, I was more interested in the twist of The Hunger Games and Soylent Green being added into the mix, then just the original storyline

I do need to rewatch the movie though, I don't remember some of the details mentioned here, I remember the Series (Which I've recently rewatched first time since original airing) much better and it's clouding the memories

I tried to watch the series back when it came out and fled in disgust lol... I use Logan's Run as an example of the typical great book - good movie - awful TV series progression.

Don't forget the Marvel Comic!

(Which had nice art by George Perez, as I recall.)

Didn't Harlan Ellison write an episode of the series version? (Also, didn't D.C. Fontana work as story editor or in a similar position?)

It is 70s TV-sf, but s it really all bad?

I was born in 1964, so perhaps I have childhood Nostalgia for it, but, I didn't think it was all bad, I watched it, BSG:TOS and Buck Rogers as a kid, and didn't hate any of them on my Adult rewatch 30+ years later about a year back, in fact, I enjoyed most of the experience on some level.

Never caught The Invaders, Space 1999, nor UFO until much later as a full adult on PBS (Still haven't properly watched Space:1999), and caught early reruns of Irwin Allen Series as a Teen

Re: Logan's Run: Is the Domed City actually "Sanctuary"

I have a question that is a little off topic: What is renewal, and how would they know if someone renewed?

When the people keep shouting "renew!" at those on Carousel, and later Logan asks his fellow sandman Francis whether he had ever actually seen anyone renew, what were they expecting to see?

Later as he is dying, Francis sees that Logan's life meter is clear and he says, "You've renewed!" Does this mean he thinks Logan is forever young, or that Logan will be allowed to die of old age?

I assumed it was just a way to keep the population level down.

Renewal is just a myth like Sanctuary. Only it was put in place by who ever set up the society.

I've been watching nuWho for a while now, but I really just thought of the UFO thread today... It will be updated before too long.

Yeah, like they did with "I, Robot." Wonder how many people thought they bought the wrong book.

Asimov wasn't known for his sassy Will Smith type dialog.

Re: Logan's Run: Is the Domed City actually "Sanctuary"

Well it wasn't originally based on Asimov at all, those touches were shoehorned into it late in the process...

It was just an attempt at humor.
