I feel like this is my eventual fate.

This is what happens when your hair gets thin and you are sick of spending a fortune and way too much time in the bathroom pumping it up every day and you don't want to turn into one of those frosted helmet heads so you go PURPLE or BURGUNDY and SHORT and you let everyone know that you intended it to look like you stuck your head under a hand dryer, this is your new look and you are cool thank you very much.

If she was an Australian she'd also be getting a tattoo right about this time in her life.

Now someone is going to smack me one for possibly being critical of Kate's cosmetic choices and go ahead, smack me, I deserve it. When I saw her at the con a couple years ago her hair looked GORGEOUS but also like a lot of work so I'm sure she is having a blast with this new look.
Sweetie, this is what she looked like just 6 months ago...

Worry not.

I think she's just blowing off steam while out of the country... you're just lucky she didn't shave off all her locks when she went to your home last year.

Rather than trying to imitate Sharon Osborne... perhaps she was trying for a wild Julia Gillard?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihd7ofrwQX0

or maybe Pete's Mom is getting a make over for the last half of Warehouse 13's season 4?

(I do like Guy's suggestion that Kate is trying to keep the fangirls at bay by changing her hairdo so drastically! )

Maybe it is for a role.
I hope so. Sounds better to me than thin hair or keeping fangirls at bay. I think I have to get used to the colour. Liked it much better as it was before. The august photos on Flickr are beautiful...

BirdInJetstream - I would think it's for her role in this show, that's just started filming. As it's a TV series, though, the style may need to stick around for quite some time.

Re: Janeway's locks...short or long?

Maybe I have to overcome a personal issue with hair: I am trying to grow mine long for ages now, but it is thin and breaks. So I don't manage more than shoulder length. And seeing that gorgous hair cut down AND dyed it in this (at least for the moment) offensive colour. It physically hurts!

20 years of ageing is less important than a hair cut?

You lot are magical.

Aging?

SHE IS GLORIOUS.

In a few pics the hair looks less shock red and more dark wine. This works better and hopefully she goes that way.
