Saw this on SI.com a few days ago. Very sad.

I loved him as Mongo, obviously, and very much as Lance Cpl. Lyle Wesson in the M*A*S*H episode Springtime. It was a somewhat Mongo-like role.

RIP.

He was good in "Victor/Victoria," too.

Surprised no one's mentioned his turn as George Papadopolis, in one of my favorite shows from childhood.

RIP.

Both were great. But one of my favorite things was actually a commercial he did for diet soda back in the 70s. That last line, said sort of "Mongo style," always cracked me up.

I remember him doing this bit with Jim Belushi on an old SNL episode. "We're a couple of white guys, we don't take no crap. When we deliver our...white rap!"

At least I think that was him.

I like to think that when he got to Heaven, Cleavon Little was waiting there with a Candygram for him.
