This confirms my theory about the dumbing down of Dexter! Way to go, writers!

Re: Dexter - Season 7 (with Spoilers)

Hannah is a poisoner, she sets far more subtle traps, the only chance Dexter has is if she doesn't see him coming, and if Deb set her up, then she won't.

Cyborg Doakes comes back for vengeance, the episode ends with La Guerta ordering the cops to fire on Dexter, then cue the BoBW music and "To Be Continued..."

Theory? What do you call season 6?

Or in season 5 when Team Bad Guys dumped bodies inside floating barrels into shallow swamp where no one ever found them until Dexter?

Some how I felt sorry for Hannah but not the Captain.
I also felt sorry for Deb, who got in so deep there was no point of return for her.
What will she be next year, promoted to Captain, and killing the bad guys that get away with Dexter ???

Sometimes the most predictable ending is the best one.

Re: Dexter - Season 7 (with Spoilers)

We got M.A.D. now.

Dexter tells Hannah what Deb did and now they can spend Christmas together happily for the next 40 years.

Well as happy as most inlaws.

Two bad that Deb couldn't have also put a cap in Quinn's useless head so we could be rid of the two most annoying/pointless characters all in one episode. I definitely won't be missing LaGuerta. But both Dexter and especially Deb have crossed the lin. As annoying, manipulative and bitchy LaGuerta was she wasn't really evil, doesn't really fit the code. I don't see a good ending for Dexter or Deb. The show will probably end with Dexter either on the run, in prison or dead. It's possible that Deb may suicide over this. Or maybe not and she and Dexter go around killing people next season.

I'm guessing that Hannah will show up and cause trouble for Dexter and Deb for a few epsodes next season.

Re: Dexter - Season 7 (with Spoilers)

You mean because she's preggers?

Dexter needed the code because he had nothing inside himself with nothing to protect, but that's all been upended, he's capable of love, and he has people, he has a life worth protecting... It's like when they invented the Zeroeth law in the Asimov Novels. "A Robot cannot harm humaity as a whole, or through inaction allow humanity as a whole to come to harm" which immediately superceeded the first law of robotics some paltry advice about protecting individual humans...

Dexter might still need the code, but he is also beyond the code becuase he has feelings and conections to the real world.

Remember with Dokes?

Dexter bent over for destiny.

He had a shower, flossed is teeth, had a red orange and our little psycho was just going to take what fate wanted to unload.

I'm amazed that Debra didn't poison herself.

Re: Dexter - Season 7 (with Spoilers)

A middling end to a middling season that could have been much stronger if the writers hadn't decided (a) to stretch one season's worth of story out over two, and (b) to prioritize manipulating Deb into the various emotional positions the plot required over any kind of coherent characterization. But the general direction they're taking with Dexter's character is the right one, so next year still has real potential. I just hope they don't act as though LaGuerta's disappearance would magically make her investigation of Dexter go away.
