Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Seska is a loophole, because she isn't a kazon female, they can treat her like a man they can have sex with... Not that we have any idea how they feel about homosexuality, that there arn't plenty of men that male Kazon already enjoy having sex with.

SESKA: Don't be so sure about that. What did you do to the two men who refused your offer?
CULLUH: I killed them.
SESKA: Yes. And by doing that, you sent a message. The Kazon-Nistrim are powerful again. First Maje Jal Culluh has technology that no other sect possesses. Join with him, or suffer the consequences.
CULLUH: Maybe the mistake was to approach the Relora. They're already strong. But the transporter may be enough to convince the Hobii to join me. And perhaps the Mostral.
SESKA: Yes. And with a few more ships, you can defeat Voyager. And when you have the rest of their technology, the other sects will have no choice but to fall into line. That's why I sent a subspace message to the Mostral, the Hobii and the Oglamar.
CULLUH: You did what?
SESKA: I told them about the transporter, asked them to help us take Voyager.
CULLUH: You have gone too far.
SESKA: I sent the messages in your name.
CULLUH: I am the leader of this sect. You are only a woman.
SESKA: I'm sorry, Culluh.
CULLUH: You'll address me as Maje.
SESKA: Yes. Maje. Please, forgive me.
CULLUH: So, how did the other sects respond to my request?
SESKA: They're on their way to join us.
CULLUH: I could do what no one has done since Jal Sankur united the sects to overthrow the Trabe.
SESKA: Yes, Maje.
CULLUH: I could have hundreds of ships and thousands of soldiers under my command.
SESKA: Yes, Maje.
CULLUH: I could be the most powerful Kazon in the quadrant.
SESKA: Yes, Maje.
He wants to forgive her impertinence because he loves her. Which is why they had sex instead of Cullah sending that Cardassian spook out for a flogging.

Seska doesn't love him.

He's just her work husband.

It's her job to make him love her.

She's more intelligent and devious than he is.

To say that he wasn't in love with her as strongly as she needed him to be, to get the job done means that she was letting the side down.and that he was smarter and more complicated than we gave him credit for.

Love and respect are different stuff too.

But she couldn't hold her position without having him tied around her finger, even if he was just giving her slack so that he could enjoy the ride before he had to space her.

But you can tell that she was also planning on having him killed first.

So what's worse, a backward thug who might as well be from the 1850s expressing love in so far as his concepts of love and freedom permit, or a fully actualized postpostpostmodern liberated woman who can't stop lying very very well?

I bet she was the most amazing and fascinating thing that had ever happened to him.

Becuase Kazon women are not allowed to grow into real people like she had?

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Because Kazons are rednecks and Seska is a woman who has seen many worlds, lived as two different species, been skilled enough to manipulate many lovers with diverse needs (can't get more diverse than different species).. she would have blown his dim little mind all the while making him feel like she was his acquisition that showed everyone how hot he was.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Well all that has always been true.

So how couldn't he be in love with her?

Although, they're not rednecks, you know that they were designed as an allegory for the LA gang problems, which is probably based on a couple views of New Jack City and/or Boyz in the Hood.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Of course he's in love with her, he is utterly smitten.

Well maybe the poor unamed lost baby won't have all that bad a time of it, though his fortunes will depend on his father's and it doesn't look good. As long as he manages to survive childhood his wits and Cardassian nature will make him as big a star as his mother when it comes to the Kazon, with the added advantage of being male. If Janeway had taken him he would have been despised by the Cardassians when they got home and been so Federationized as to have been useless should he ever return to the Delta quadrant.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

I think there's a moment when Seska is told that Cullah is the father that she decides that soon at some point she might have to re-evaluate everything.

But that kid is going to be treated like a prince, which isn't unusual since he is a prince.

A rich and powerful idiot that will do anything she says.

That's all most people want from a spouse.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Spouse, yes. Father? No one wants their kid to get the lesser genes. She would have been freaking out during his upbringing every time he thought smashing stuff was the answer to complex problems. Can't tie his shoes? SMASH 'EM.

And.. this is one of the few times Chakotay is a step up in life.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Rich husbands are often amazed to see how much work their trophy wives have had done before they met, in their children's faces.

"OH! You're Jewish! Why didn't you tell me that you're Jewish? Did you know that you're Jewish?"

Male Cardassians seem like light weights for the most part in the civil restraint department too.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

Do you mean that it surprises the husbands to see that 99% of the child comes from the mother's hard work?

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

No?

you are more than aware that I meant facetiously, ripping off half a dozen actual comedians, that children don't get their mothers nosejobs.

Inherited traits.

Cullah must have been horrified when that spoon started growing out of his girlfriends forehead as she transitioned from Bajoran to Cardassian.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

No I didn't know you meant, facetiously, about nose jobs. Which is why I asked if my assumption was what you meant. I've missed out on a lot of comedies and forgotten the ones I have seen so it flew right by me and I had to assume it was about the dimness of men and the nurturing of women which is what it would have been about if I had written it.

And perhaps Cullah saw it more as a spoon rest.

Re: Seska's poor unamed lost baby

It's an American thing.

Sweet 16 money used for cosmetic surgery.

Do you ever spend so much time here talking to yanks that you forget that you're not supposed to think like they do?

Of course if rewatching every episode of Friends at least 10 times hasn't ruined you, you're probably culturally indomitable.

Yesterday I watched 11 episodes of the Aussie drama Rake, so there was a chance I was going to metamorphosize into one of your lot.
