Last Night of the Proms

This ones more for the Brits as the last part of the Proms is about to begin. Time for some flag waving.
On the continent of wild endeavour in the mountains of solace and solitude there stood the citadel of the time lords, the oldest and most mighty race in the universe looking down on the galaxies below sworn never to interfere only to watch.

Re: Last Night of the Proms

I'm using the online radio player to listening to it after the fact. Sounds good so far, but I'm definitely looking forward to the rousing finale.

I have no personal experience with Proms, but it's nice that the final night is a joyous occasion where people seem to let their hair a lot more than I would expect for a series of orchestral performances.

I always try to watch the second half of the Last Night; it's tremendous fun. The surprise cameo of the various Olympic rowers during Rule Britannia was a definite highlight!

That, and the conductor (don't ask me to spell his name, sorry) cheekily putting on his CBE for the finale...

Re: Last Night of the Proms

Between the US Open, the Paralympics and Doctor Who, I'm going to iPlayer it this year.

I iPlayered it last year, but I did have a better excuse - I was at the Scottish Last Night itself.
