Re: Last Classic Who Story you watched

I finished up the rest of the Fifth Doctor's run over the past couple weeks:

The Awakening, Frontios, Resurrection of the Daleks, Planet of Fire and The Caves of Androzani.

Interestingly enough the Fifth Doctor's last serial, The Caves of Androzani, was probably his best. Robert Holmes was completely up to form as everything in the serial worked.

A lot of people loved The Caves of Andozani. I really need to buy that one.

Last on eI saw was a few days ago now, the Three Doctors.

Marco Polo, well I listened to it anyway. So sad this no longer, a fantastic historical I would have loved to have seen it.

Especially the scenes with the Doctor and Kublai Khan.

Well with the possible exception of the magma monster...

There should be a lot more of them, there are ar too many current day stories, not that many future/off earth stories and hardly any historicals.

RTD did a lot of historical stories, but the one thing I do prefer in Moffat's era than RTD's is that there are barley any historical stories now.

What's the point of having a time machine if you never use it to go back in time?

Yup. Also, when people use the word "Historical", they are typically referring to a story that has no SciFi element to it aside from the TARDIS trip, there are no alien or monster Antagonists, just a purely historical story

Indeed, off the top of my head I can't think of any nuWho stories that would count as a historical story.

I just watched "The Ark in Space" last night on Netflix. It was one of the first ones I remember seeing as a kid and it was cool to watch it again. Fourth Doctor, Sarah Jane, Harry Sullivan...ahhh, nostalgia.

They also have "Pyramids of Mars" & "Tomb of the Cybermen," so I'll check one of those out next -- maybe the latter, since I haven't seen that before.

To go to the future.

Besides it's a big universe, there's more to do then constantly visit the past of the same fucking planet all over again.

Actually, The Aztecs is at the very top of my favorite Hartnell stories, The Romans is quite funny.

Marco Polo is well lauded, and often cited as one of the worst tragedies of missing Doctor Who stories

As opposed to the present day.

God, they must have been even worse.
Why not treat yourself and try actually watching some of them.

Re: Last Classic Who Story you watched

While I haven't actually watched it yet (as it just shipped a day or so ago), I'm eagerly anticipating getting "Remembrance of the Daleks" as I hear it's one of McCoy's best stories and the point where his era becomes good. Though for me that will probably mean it will become really great, because I've loved all of McCoy's serials up to this point.
