It's probably more because she did really well in Rome, just as Paula Malcomson was no slouch on Deadwood. They wanted quality TV actors and a production that could be compared to ambituous premium cable dramas, much like BSG wanted.

Loved her on Rome, didn't care for her much on Caprica.
