Google datacenter photos - wow

How fucking impressive is that? Holy shit.

Not just the sheer size of all this, but also how clean and well organised and yet colourful it is.

Some of those pics of the multi-colored pipes look like they belong in the TOS Enterprise!

I have worked in a big datacentre and to be honest.. i'm not that impressed because they look pretty standard to me.

Though it is obvious that they are shot in a way to make them more impressive and more SciFi.. however the scale is still enormous.

Reality imitating fiction once again!

I blame Google for making them on Earth instead of a spaceship.

I, for one, welcome our Borg overlords.

Obviously they cherry-picked the best photos because every other data center I've seen has at least one section that looks like the cat5 cable monster took over.

Oh, of course. Still, I'd love to tour a Google facility. They'd have to pry me away from the servers.

Some of the photos have clearly been edited (e.g. mirrored, touched up, colours messed with) to make them look "cooler". Apparently a few details have been edited out as well (logos removed from objects). Still impressive.

And all of this will be sealed away in a concrete-reinforced, underground bunker behind an impenetrable barrier of unshielded gamma-ray emitters.
