A fellow Fossum fan! Oh I have to ask if you've read "When the devil holds the candle"? That's my favorite, it's horrible in the good way.
I have read "When the Devil Holds the Candle and thought it was excellent but He Who Fears the Wolf is my favourite Fossum novel. I think that the character of Erkki Johrma is one of the best developed and most tragic characters I have ever come across. Inspector Sejer is my second favourite police inspector coming in behind Arnaldur Indridason's Inspector Erlendur.

Adding the author to my list of future reads
Just a word of warning - two of Fossum's novels have been published under two different English titles each. They are In the Darkness/Eva's Eye and Calling Out for You/The Indian Bride. I almost bought Eva's Eye last month thinking it was one I hadn't read.

Re: What are you reading?

I am currently reading Seven Touches of Music by Zoran Zibkovic. It is a collection of short stories all with a musical theme, and the third book I have read by Zivkovic this year (The other two were The Library and Miss Tamara, the Reader. Zibkovic is my best "new" author in 2013.

The Library was great. Quite charming. I'll definitely want to pick up more of his stuff.

Re: What are you reading?

I just realised I typed his name wrong in my post. That what happens when the b is next to the v.

I have two more of his books waiting on the shelf ready to be read. There are

Time Gifts - which is only 4 stories and only 81 pages - long and Steps Through the Mist.

I knew who you meant, though. What are the themes of Time Gifts and Steps Through The Mist?

In Time Gifts three people who are imprisoned, either real or figuratively, are visited by a mysterious stranger and offered a chance to travel through time. The fourth story explains who the stranger is.

On Amazon Steps Through the Mist is descibed as "Five women in various stages of life—all connected by a mysterious, obscuring mist—face the deterministic trap of fate in this mosaic novel".

Sounds good. I was hoping Time Gifts would be about time travel.

Re: What are you reading?

I finished the Autobiography Long Shot by Mike Piazza. I'm now starting on my first Star Trek book in a very long time. In fact it has been so long, I can't even remember the last time I read a Star Trek book. It's Star Trek: Cast No Shadow and its a follow up the events in Star Trek 6 and what happens to Valeris. I'm looking forward to read it.
