My little CG effort...

Hi, all,

When I can, I dabble in 3D model work and CG animation. I use programs like Blender and iClone to bring my little movies to life.

They are far from perfect, but so far have been met with decent approval from those who've viewed them.

The first video is the first in (hopefully) a series of videos called "Captains' Logs: Declassified". This first effort does not feature any actual crew interaction. It is mostly starship and weapons porn. It does have a voice-over narrative by yours truly as James T. Kirk. The 13 minute story takes place somewhere between The Motion Picture, and The Wrath of Khan, when Kirk and crew embarked on their second five year mission aboard the refit U.S.S. Enterprise. All the models, sets, and effects were built and animated by me.

The second video is my own take on remaking (for the second time) the opening moments of Star Trek The Motion Picture. Again, no crew shots....so for the lack of interior shots, I added in a couple of new space shots of the K't'ingas and V'ger.

I sincerely hope you like my humble little efforts. There are far better artists and animators out there, but I think these do kinda hold their own.

Hi, Martok2112. I have added you to my listing of filmmakers who make CGI sequences with no human characters visible on screen. http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/203.html. I will be happy to move you to another location when you produce stories with animated characters, but this appears to be where you belong for now.

Hi, barbreader. I do hope you enjoyed the sequences though.
And yes, characters actually in the story are my goal for the next CL: D.

However, there are some humans in my first video...they just don't last very long...LOL

Re: My little CG effort...

I have construction crews coming to my house starting June 9, so I'm way behind in viewing my Star Trek Fan Films. At least you are listed... for now, and I'll review where you belong when I can. Construction will go until August, so no promises.

I just hope I can find a way to keep my computer up at all during the mess! Updating Star Trek Reviewed from the public library is not fun!

I don't doubt it given all of the stuff listed on your site.

Hey Martok! Nice to see a familiar face from over at the (now defunct) Star Trek Movie boards! I've seen your work, most impressive! I myself have a few very short special effects tests, only mine utilize filming miniatures and green screen. Still, to each his own. Apples and oranges, so to speak.

Hey, Admiral, it's good to see you too. Welcome!
And I love working with miniatures too...alas, I don't have the space I need to do really convincing jobs with 'em. I'll have to check out your work.

Thank you both. Most kind.

Now if I can get my computers fixed, or get bigger, badder, better ones so I can get back to it.
