I loved her appearances on L&O:SVU, in which she was decidedly less glamorous than in any of those pictures. When she was playing Dani Beck, that's how I liked her - as the tough New York cop.

It's SVU which makes me give a thumbs-up for her.

She's great: looks great, sounds great, acts great. Great! I still don't get the crap older women always get. I've had way more fun with older women than women my age or younger. Don't get me wrong, young women are fun, too, but older women are more likely to bypass the bullshit, know what they want and appreciate someone actually being nice to them. They can also be sexy as hell, definitely babes. In my experience, of course.

Okay that sounds very promising. I'm going to have to look that up.

You'd probably would've liked her more when she used to speak only one language? Or is that too many?

Loved her since Mission to Mars. Hate her as a blond. Up, with reservations.

I think the next Babe of the Week should be a fictional woman from a Renaissance painting.

That way people won't get distracted by her personality and can focus solely on her boobs.

Oh wait, that's how it works already.

It should be a painting by Titian. Then there could be bad puns.

This will work.

I only realized recently that she wasn't in Red Sonja.

Okay, it was yesterday.

But as mentioned, she's an attractive woman who brought class and sexiness to the Mars mission.

I also liked her in Gladiator and One Hour Photo.

I see from last week's thread that some of you really don't like Gladiator. Why the hate? Just curious. I last saw it when it first came out and remember it being pretty good.

Too bad the Renaissance painters didn't have our high standards for beauty and perfection, where even a remarkably beautiful woman will be dissed for her looks. A Renaissance painting stands no chance here.

Nielsen speaks eight languages: Danish, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian and Swedish.
Wow, that's pretty amazing.
It is, I wish I could even learn half of that.

Re: Connie Nielsen: Babe of the week #34 (Aug. 2012)

I'm ashamed, I had difficulty in learning a second foreign language to a useful level, and all my subsequent attempts to learn others went nowhere. It must be wonderful thing to know these many languages, to be able to reach the cultures behind them directly, with all the subtleties that they have. When I'm confronted with a quotation in a language I don't know, my instinct is to decipher it, because I think that a translation wouldn't do the quote justice.

I'd personally choose to learn Japanese or Korean, because it's the furthest from western languages that you can go. Nevertheless, it's a great thing to have.

Knowing eight languages shouldn't be just a reason for admiration, I'd say it should be a nerd's fantasy.

While Japanese is really a pain in the ass with its three scripts (bloody Kanji driving me insane while learning it) Korean actually isn't that bad. Unlike Japanese and Chinese the writing is pretty easy to learn for a Westerner.
It does include a couple of hanja but usually just uses the hangul alphabet. Which is just consonants and vowels... like Western languages.
If you truly want "pain in the ass", go for Japanese. Even Chinese seems easy in comparison with its simplified characters.

Knowing eight languages shouldn't be just a reason for admiration, I'd say it should be a nerd's fantasy.
Thanks.
Although I can only have a proper conversation in 5 or 6 languages (Italian, German, French, English, Spanish, and Japanese (unless the topic's too complicated). I never really tried actually having a conversation in Latin or Old Greek.
