DC animated movies were great because they were adaptations of the comics, while the Marvel movies were original stories. Why not do adaptations? Planet Hulk was good.
There is a Planet Hulk adaptation, no?

That's what I'm saying, the Planet Hulk cartoon was good.

I was really hoping they would make the sequel; World War Hulk! I'd love to see the Marvel U going to war with the Hulk in animated form!

But why? Planet Hulk was good, but the comics were much better. If they never made an animated Planet Hulk, I wouldn't be missing out on that story.

So why do we need a cartoon version of the next chapter? Isn't that the beauty of these characters, there are unlimited stories to tell that we don't need to adapt stories already created?

After being disappointed by Flashpoint and then reading the series after the fact, I see how much is lost in the translation that I'd rather they didn't make them animated and do something, you know, creative and (at least pretending to be) original.

I'd rather have no clue where a story is going as it unfolds in front of me instead of not being surprised by every twist and turn I already read about.

An adaptation of a good story is going to be a good movie (presumably).

An original story could easily be terrible.

Adaptations are predictable, but a sure thing.

Plus there's just something really magical about reading a static story/image and seeing it made real.

The Phoenix Saga in "The Last Stand" begs to differ.

So everyone seems pretty sure at this point that Iron Man will be one to invent Ultron. And it might even be the best option..

But since Hank Pym Ant Man has been cast already (Douglas) and filming hasnt even started yet then what would stop them from using him in then movie after all? Introducing Pym in Avengers as a (mad)scientist type who used to work for SHIELD in his youth and now has invented Big Bad for Avengers to fight.

Would it work? Would it lack too much "emotional impact" since we dont know as much about Pym as we know about Stark? Would it be too much like some random bad guy instead of something growing naturally from past movies? Instead growing backwards from future movies!

Ant Man - movie would then tell more about Hank Pym's past, but focus more on Scott Lang. Since I dont think that anyone is expecting Michael Douglas to be main (action) star of any movie at this point. So why not use him in smaller parts in two movies.

What they did in X-Men 3 could barely be called the Dark Phoenix Saga

They specifically said Ant Man does not factor into their version of Ultron. I have no idea if it'll be Stark or not, though.

That trailer with the morphing helmet would seem to be steering audience expectations in a particular direction re: Stark and Ultron, no?

Whedon also said that there would be a "new origin", which makes think there will be more in play than a simple switching out of Pym and Stark.

It's ambiguous enough to not be entirely clear, but that's certainly one possible interpretation.
