Hmmm ... I'd hope they have no plans to get rid of Artie. If what you're thinking is correct, then I assume the dagger is itself an artifact that might somehow kill the evil in Artie and undo the damage he did in using Magellan's Astrolabe.

i hope Jinks is back for good. it took me a few episodes, but i really began to like the character. i'd hate to see him killed of permanently.

So let me get this straight. Brent Spiner's character is telling Artie, "You can never, ever use the astrolabe! Using it is phenomenally bad!" Qualified with, "But if you ever do use it, you have to use it a second time!"

Uh, what? You just said using the astrolabe is bad. Even if you go back and erase the effects of the first usage, you are using the astrolabe again. Maybe the unspeakable evil is only released on odd-numbered uses?

I'm also a little fuzzy on this whole notion of "no using artifacts" in general. Aren't the Tesla guns, the communicators, and some of their regular gadgets, classified as artifacts, or were made using artifacts?

I'm so proud of myself, though. I called both the Lovecraft thing, and the idea of connections between the assault victims, well before they were revealed.

Hank Ford and Tommy Edison suppressed a lot of technology because it got in the way of their profit margins.

The bioelectic car, the Teslers and Farnsworths.

There's probably an entire wing of the warehouse filled with nothing but old betamax video players.

Yeah... and really I think we're only talking misdirection for Artie, not for the audience. We haven't seen her do one thing out of character yet.

I wish, but that character could be off-screen for any number of episodes. Spear carriers can get bronzed or something, so that they aren't really part of the show.
