I know a lot of people seem to want to see one or both Barons Zemo, and we did see Zola in the first one so it wouldn't be to hard to bring him back.

Well...it often seems that way, frankly.

For a movie, I'm sure they wouldn't have that big a deal building somebody else up, but if they haven't been in touch with him at all (which is what it sounds like), it doesn't seem like they were intending on using the Skull in the second movie anyway.

Strictly speaking, the contract is meaningless if he doesn't want to carry it out, beyond perhaps him owing them some financial penalty (depending on the details). Courts would never give specific performance in this area.

Not like it would come to that, anyway. The nature of the role makes it particularly easy to replace him.

Is it sad that I noticed two rather glaring errors on Carter's file? It's annoying because normally I hate nitpicking...but I'm sorry: it's Royal Air Force, not British Air Force and it's interesting how she was in the SAS for four years and yet managed to leave a full year before it was formed...Oh and her phone number looks very odd too. Either S.H.I.E.L.D. needs better proof readers, or that's one flimsy cover story!

Actually a full decade; it says she was a British Air Force nurse from 1934-6, in the Special Air Service from '36-'40, and in the Strategic Scientific Reserve from '40 onward.

Still, we are dealing with an alternate history here, a version of the Marvel Universe rather than the real universe. It has blatant and intentional discrepancies like the existence of Captain America as a well-known war hero and the role of HYDRA as a major part of the Nazi war machine, so there could easily be other discrepancies as well.

Oh and her phone number looks very odd too.

Well, yes and no. It's "020-7946 03560," which would work as a London number if you dropped the last 0 and wrote it as "(020) 7946 0356" instead. However, the file says Peggy lives in Winchester, whose phone numbers would use the dialling code "(01962)" followed by a 5- or 6-digit number.

Sidenote: Re-watching The Avengers I noticed that the team doesn't stray too far from "Grand Central" station.

The production crew just makes one small stretch of highway. The rest is all CGI

It's a neat little film making technique.

And considering most all of the street shots were filmed in downtown Albuquerque .. Loved seeing familiar store fronts and buildings mixed in with the CGI New York...

Of course the bluetooths were not visible on Cap, BW or anyone else, really. It looked more like they magically talked to each other. And yes, I noticed that it looks like the Avengers only stayed on a single street. Pretty damn obvious.

I also wonder why Stark didn't take "Legolas" to the top of the tower to deactivate the portal; when BW went there in a much riskier fashion they were no closer to figuring out how to close it anyway.

Also, this is a separate point, but all the Avengers spent an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out where the tesseract was, when it was obvious that it would be Stark's tower

Which was logically justified by the way the situation was set up, since all the Chitauri were emerging from a single point, so it made sense to make that the focus of the battle.

You mean Hawkeye? Why would he be any more qualified to do anything about the portal? He's a sniper by training, so Cap assigned him to be their spotter, to do the thing he specialized in. That made perfect sense.

How was that obvious? Perhaps those of us watching the movie could've deduced that by storytelling logic or by having seen the trailers, but the characters in the movie didn't have those advantages.

So, Stark spends the first part of the film bragging about his renewable unlimited clean energy source, and then in the second act he and Banner spend an inordinate amount of time staring at monitors trying to figure out the best place that would keep the cube thing going, and, surprise, surprise, it's Stark's clean energy contraption.

Yes, as for "Legolas" I meant Hawkeye.. If you weren't so obtuse you'd get the joke/reference/whatever. And yeah, Stark lifted him up some building to get a better vantage point and to pick off aliens... but he's only in one corner of one building rooftop so from there I think his ability to see the whole city would be limted. Why not put him on Stark tower.. not only can he still pick off guys, but he could wait and see if the portal weakens at all or an opportunity presents itself to shut it down. Failing that, when BW widow suggests her stupid stunt, why not just have Cap say "no, that's a stupid plan, Hawkeye is already up there, and we'll let him look at the portal."

Do you have any idea how high Stark Tower was? It's a modification of the MetLife Building just north of Grand Central Station, with a bunch of new floors added on top of it. The MetLife Building by itself is 59 stories and 808 feet high; the Stark-modified version is about 200 feet taller, rivalling the Chrysler Building in height. Hawkeye may have keen vision, but that's asking a little much. Not to mention that arrows wouldn't be particularly effective over such a great distance, particularly with the high winds you get at those altitudes.

Hawkeye could still take into effect the winds direction and still hit the mark.

Yep. Cap's plan was to contain the invasion until they could either defeat them or find a way to put a stop to it. That's why he had Iron Man on perimeter duty, making sure the Chitauri didn't get too far out, and why he had Thor try to bottleneck the Chitauri at the portal and stem the tide a bit. It made plenty of sense to me.
