I'm wondering on the fate of Daryl myself this season, when all is said and done at the end of the season I expect Michonne to make it through. And so will the group need two badass fighters? Of course for me, ideally yes, but I just wonder if the writers make have her take his place

Been a while since I read the comic too, but I think she was his daugther, and she's dating that white guy in the group. I wonder if the series will use that plotline in the show

For the most part I'd argue against that, but after recently reading the latest TPB (#97-102) and seeing what happens in #100.
IMO that was way OTT and horrible. We really didn't need to see that happen to that person. I get that it's a grim world but that was just a bit sick.

I agree. Plus I'm also getting bored with the comic. doesn't feel new anymore

That's one of the problems with the Dark & Gritty approach. It always has to one-up itself.

I can understand the confusion since she calls him Tyreese instead of dad. But its pretty clear that that is his daughter along with her boyfriend. The major difference is that she was not nearly that assertive in the comics. Somehow I don't see this version of her following in the footsteps of her comics counterpart.

That's true. The producers and writers on the series have said publicly they want the show to go on indefinitely. I'm not sure modern audiences will accept a story arc that has the characters forever living a more grim life. There has to be IMO at some point hope and a search for the "cure," or people will tire of new and existing characters simply getting killed off each and every season.

I know what you mean. (I read it via the TPBs by the way) To be fair I was really enjoying it until this last one. Where yeah it does feel like its just going round in circles now. Its the prison/Govener arc all over again, just more so. And you know its gonna last for probably dozens of issues.

I'd like to see them do something wild, like I don't know... they leave America, try to escape overseas or something. Just bored of the routine-
- find a new place to set up
- fight off zombies
- have an tense stand off with the locals
- defend base from asshole gang who want it for themselves
- keep introducing cypher characters
- kill them off soon enough
- etc etc

The TV show eventually may suffer form the same rinse repeat story lines. They need to insert episodes like the one at the CDC that starts to explain what's happening and introduce a grander effort to defeat the illness.

Robert Kirkman said he had a roughly 300-issue run planned for TWD comics. This works out to 25 years!

Thing is, I hope they will continue to go from one overrun place to the next, at least for now. This seems to be the only realistic way of gettign the characters to explore the post-apocalypse world... However I'm sure eventually, once humanity as a whole becomes used to life-with-zombies, we'll have several established communities with our main characters braving the wilderness to go between them. Sorta like the world of Revolution, with less living people.
