LEGO: USS Reliant NCC-1864

Hello TrekBBS!

LEGO USS Reliant 1 by myko82, on Flickr

In late 2010 I decided to combine my two geek loves, LEGO and Star Trek. There is not a lot of good Star Trek MOCs on the net, there's some really cool micro-scale stuff but not much in the large category. I realised quickly that it would be impossible to contruct a large scale USS Enterprise using pure LEGO, so I had to look for another ship. The USS Reliant from Wrath of Khan is much more compact and less spindly, so it seemed a suitable candidate. Many bricklink orders and bricks later (and over a year of prototyping and building) here she is! I have not counted the pieces (my sanity is grateful!) but I would estimate somewhere in the 10-15k range.

I don't like to ramble, so I'm just gonna let you enjoy the photos, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Holy crap. That looks great. I was expecting one of those tiny little things, but this is hard core.

Wow, Looks fantastic. Never could get a decent saucer whenever I tried as a kid. I guess the trick was to just go big

Re: LEGO: USS Reliant NCC-1684

That.....is......glorious! I need a stud count, piece count, and I need to know if this is straight LEGO or are there OTHER bricks involved? Oh, and... what is the general price tag? Did I mention this is awesome. You made my day.

And how did you achieve the arc on the torpedo bar?

Looking at the larger version - http://www.flickr.com/photos/2530928...n/photostream/ - assuming I didn't slip while counting, it looks to be 90 studs wide from port to starboard, which works out somewhere around 28 inches wide.

You need to submit this to www.firestartoys.com

They post all kinds of sweet LEGO goodness on their Facebook page.
