It probably won't be great, but I might be curious. The only other kids cartoons I grew up with to have been turned into movies were comic book films, which don't really count (although TMNT is borderline since I didn't even know it was a comic book at the time, I also grew up with the movie, so I'm discounting that).

Since I assume they won't be making a Bucky O'Hare movie, I might have to settle for this instead

I'll admit to being strangely intrigued despite my better judgment. This could work out pretty well if the movie is a tongue in cheek adaption of the cartoon, but most likely it'll be horrendous.

If Transformers can get three tries at a flick, plus two for GI Joe, I certainly don't see why Planet shouldn't.

My son loves that cartoon (which is on every night at 3AM).

It is terribly cheesy and so one-sided it's laughable (even for a bleeding heart like me). Like most cartoons of our youth, it's better as nostalgia than real entertainment.

It will be interesting to see how they play this.

If they somehow get Al Gore to play Captain Planet, it would be glorious.

I may be remembering it wrong, but I swear there was an episode of the show where the Planeteers were trapped on a space station and decided the best course of action was to open an airlock and try and "swim" back to Earth, or some ship or whatever. I swear it actually showed them moving their arms and legs in a swimming fashion and propelling them through the vacuum of space. I might add that they were just wearing their regular old clothes and simply holding their breath. Even as a kid I remember screaming out "BULLSHIT". That is if I'm remembering right.

Doesn't sound any more heinous than a bunch of Bayformers plot points.

Sadly.....you might be right. With the brain power of the average teenager these days, I doubt they would even bat their eyes at such a scene.

Re: They're Making a Live-Action "Captain Planet" Movie

It makes me feel really old, but I guess the people who fondly remember Capt. Planet as children are now in positions of power and controlling purse strings.

I'd rather see a CG "Max the 2000 Year Old Mouse" or a live-action "Prof. Kitzel" (and if you remember THOSE shows, the line-up for Geritol begins behind me).
