RIP Jim Unger.... Your "Herman" comics

made me laugh more times than I can ever count!

Jim Unger, Herman creator, 21 Jan 1937 - 29 May, 2012. Passed away in his sleep at home in Victoria BC. Herman comic ran for eighteen years in 600 newspapers in 25 countries.

In 1990, Herman became the first newspaper cartoon syndicated in East Germany. Shortly afterward, Unger produced a new book, Herman: Over the Wall. He joked, "Six months later the (Berlin) Wall came down; I think that's what did it
His commentary about life was beautifully illustrated in this plucky exchange between a married couple in one of his entries.

Wife: "What would you rate me as? A 10? 9? 8? 7? 6? 5? 4, 3? (pause) Not 2!"

Husband: "Keep going."

Loed the Herman comics, they were sharp and funny without being overly cruel. His take on married life was great.

Sad news, he was a talented student of the human condition.

Awww.... had not heard he passed. Great cartoonist.

Always wondered if his stuff was a nugget in the creation of the 'Married With Children' series.
