Had the augments won the Eugenics war.....

Augments would be in charge, and there may only be augments left.

When they achieved warp drive the Vulcans probably would have noticed even if it's not the first time they went to warp but I imagine their interaction with the Vulcans would have been different.

There probably would be no Federation either. Perhaps a genocidal race, seeking to create augments out of other species.

Well, Augments did win Eugenics Wars. And probably a great many of them.

That's how they were brought down: they bludgeoned each other until only a few were left, and then these were "finally defeated" as Spock puts it, probably both because the rest of Earth was fed up with them, and because they were finally weak enough to be defeated by non-Augments.

But "Space Seed" and the ENT prequels make it seem as if there only existed a handful of the supermen, suggesting they mainly fought their wars by using mundane folks as their troops. Even had the wars ended in the clear triumph of one Augment faction and a monopoly of power, these Augments would probably have seen a continuing need for regular folks - perhaps to be used as slave labor, or then merely to be ruled, as power is no fun if you can't apply it on anybody.

Khan winning the Eugenics Wars is depicted on one of the Myriad Universe novels. Myriad Universe novels, for those unaware, are novels which contain a collection of "what if?" stories. As in "what if Khan won?" or "what if the Vulcans never turned peaceful?" and so on.

IIRC, the Mirror Universe timeline way back in "Best of Trek #14" (based loosely on the "Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology") had Khan and his people winning the Eugenics wars, but eventually they turned against and killed each other.

They also had Mirror Pike breeding those flying pancakes from "Operation: Annihilate!"

I don't care how God-like their strength and intellect are. A well-placed 50-cal sniper round will still splatter their head across the wall.

Snipe of the day: 50-cal would indeed splatter a head even if dropped on it. I guess you want a .50-cal here...

(Sorry, an obsession of an old AA artillery guy who has a wholly different definition for 50-cal.)

I'm sure the most victorious Augments were the ones who stayed out of the fights. Or at least only attended the fights they would win.

Nah it would go:
KIRK: I can't...
KHAN: You can't even speak. What?
KIRK: I got your gun.
(Kirk shoots Khan and leaves)

There's no way Augments would let you get close enough to shoot them. They're not only of superior strength, but speed and agility as well.

And in the end, it could conceivably be that they ARE resistant to some kinds of phaser fire. Hell, we've seen people shrug off a TRANSPORTER beam (TNG's "The Hunted") - true, that wasn't an Augment, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Re: Had the augments won the Eugenics war.....

I'd assume key Augments would be "masterminds", shying away from physical action if they possibly could; even Khan only took on Kirk in hand-to-hand because he was cornered. There would be some "right hands" and "goons" as well, no doubt, and some of them might have incorrect ideas about what superman status means. But the combat experience they would have gathered from fighting each other would have taught them good lessons about what they could and what they couldn't do; they would have learned all about their personal vulnerabilities, and even a slight underestimation of a non-Augmented opponent should not backfire too badly.

The inexperienced Augments would be the ones that could be defeated by mere mortals. Khan could be brought down because he was inexperienced in starship combat; the disciples of Arik Soong could be defeated because they were hatchlings completely lacking in experience of any sort.

if the augments won, perhaps things would go similiar to a Myriad universe story?
