Surprise, surprise, Missing isn't Pooh Pooh.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1828246/

I turned the bugger off after 4 minutes.

So much treacly melodrama I could feel my diabetes surging.

In those 4 minutes I spuriously assumed that I had seen at least 3/4's of the pilot

Girly drama about some crying has-been from the 90s sitting by the phone because her son has been kidnapped by fuck-knows.

Hells no am I going to watch this shit.

A week goes by.

I'm scraping the barrel.

So I start in on episode 2 still expecting a hallmark movie of the week and a womans empathic struggle, sort of bollocks but...

In the "PREVIOUSLY ON MISSING" Ashely is garroting some black ops assassin with the cord to a lamp she found on a bed side table.

Whaa--aaaaaa?

I back pedal and give the pilot a fighting chance.

So many glorious murders!

Woo Hoo!

Lets be clear, although you could get hammered with a drinking game that suggests that you should knock back a shot every time Ashley says "Someone Took my Son" what we have here is Alias meets 24 meets Prison Break meets the Fugitive.

Good antiChuck spyshit, great diehardlike fight scenes and constant mounting tension as she's pursuing her target, her kid, bound and gagged one step ahead of her adventures as she's chasing after him through the vistas of Europe.

Prove me wrong.

I was guessing this would be Taken: The Series so I didn't tune in.

Closer to The Jason Bourne Trilogy: The Series.

It wasn't awful Unfortunately it was just another high octane action/spy/conspiracy thriller that has been done to death. I honestly think Hollywood has become totally creatively bankrupt and the writers just suck. These last few years broadcast tv has been very poor.

I have given up on this season finding much to be interested in. Maybe next season will be a renaissance--then again I think that every season for the last decade.

It was very reminiscent of 24 to me. Which isn't a bad or a good thing. We'll see how it goes from here on out, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Personally, I think any show which starts with Ashley Judd jogging must be watched at least once. Seen both eps now, thought it was good from the start.

The show was okay but I wouldn't really care if it was cancelled tomorrow. I'd rather watch my dvds of Alias.

At least it's filmed on location in Europe instead of faking it in Los Angeles. It's a pretty good show but not Alias or 24 good. It's highly derivative and is basically Taken with the genders reversed. Ashley Judd makes it watchable...especially when she was jogging in the opening scenes of the pilot.

People are so jaded these days, but if you see enough TV and movies, it's bound that everything becomes something you've seen before eventually.

For me, having not watched previous stuff like 24, Alias, Taken, or Bourne, I thought the pilot episode of Missing was very entertaining and had nice action sequences (haven't seen the second episode, but I plan to).

Re: Surprise, surprise, Missing isn't Pooh Pooh.

Taken II comes out early next year, but unless there's another Bourne movie, everything else it's ripping off is canceled or over.

There was a vacuum which needed to be filled.

I like Covert Affairs, but that's just so Sesame Street compared to what Ashley is bringing to the table.

I suppose Person of Interest is CIAy?

But that's more help the helpless rather than never ending quest.

Actually, there is another Bourne movie coming: "The Bourne Legacy."

But Missing should tide you over till then.

Jason Bourne to me, looks surprisingly like Doctor Kildare.

Can't stand this new shit.

Although I like watching that German girl run.

That's awesome.

Re: Surprise, surprise, Missing isn't Pooh Pooh.

The show really picked up and became a something I looked forward to. I really enjoyed it. Last night's finale felt a bit rushed, but it was good and wrapped up the show pretty well. Then they had to tack on a 2-minute epilogue that ended with a cliffhanger that won't get a resolution. Oh well. No surprise that they did something that would allow them to keep the show's title. Very Prison Break-ish if you ask me.

Re: Surprise, surprise, Missing isn't Pooh Pooh.

I have not seen much of the show,
but I think the overall plot line seems interesting enough..plus it has Ashley Judd( big fan of hers).
Anyways, I think I will pick this up on DVD(since they dont show it here), if and when it comes out, and then tell if its good or bad

(IMHO, Anything with Judd is worth watching.
I watched even that film Bugs. That was one disturbing film, I must say..)
