This episode was good, but it would have been greater if it was made in the later seasons. That said, I love how the production staff placed the mural from this episode in "The Search" to indicate Changelings were once on the planet.

For some reason it never actually occurred to me that the little iron-filings alien might have actually been a changeling, possibly even one of the Hundred. In retrospect it makes perfect sense.

I suppose once Odo's people were revealed, the writers had no real interest on mentioning the events of this episode or "Vortex" again.
