Titanic (2012 Mini Series)

(I don't know how the rest of the world saw this but TVNZ screened it as 4x 1hr episodes, so my post refers to it as such)

Finally managed to watch the final episode of this. I enjoyed most of it. The first episode lagged a little, and too much of the bickering spoiled it (it seemed to be the most 'Downton Abbey-like' episode in the bunch). The Irish family were much better to focus on, as I found them more interesting. Lightoller was played by a good actor, and brought presence to the character. J. Bruce Ismay on the other hand really cried out for someone like Johnathan Hyde to come back to the role.

As for the FX, they were nice and subtle. My favourite shot would have to be the ship breaking in two. In James Cameron's 1997 film the scene was the $64,000 shot, right in your face, yet here it happens purely in the background, and barely gets a mention (mainly cos everyone in shot at the time is trying to climb on Collapsible B).

Favourite line of dialogue:
(when a first class passenger is trying to convince her companion to board the lifeboat)
"That boat is sinking, this one isn't!"
"I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six."

I'm very selective about the reality I accept.
