TNT announces summer lineup (Dallas, Falling Skies, etc)

TNT announces summer lineup.

Falling Skies is the one that interests me, but I'll give Dallas and Perception a look.

Dallas
New Series, Two-Hour Series Premiere: Wednesday, June 13, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)
Season 1: 10 episodes
This summer, Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray reprise their famous characters as J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing return to Southfork with secrets, schemes and betrayals. This time, they’re joined by the next generation of Ewings, played by Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe, who take ambition and deception to a new level. Dallas also stars Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo and Brenda Strong. Shot on location in the title city, Dallas comes to TNT from Warner Horizon Television, with premiere episode writer Cynthia Cidre and director Michael M. Robin serving as executive producers. It was developed by Cidre and created by David Jacobs.

Falling Skies
Two-Hour Season Premiere: Sunday, June 17, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)
Season 2: 10 episodes
The wait is nearly over as basic cable’s #1 new series of 2011 returns to continue its extraordinary story about life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. Noah Wyle stars as a college professor who becomes an unlikely resistance leader in this gripping series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight and Connor Jessup also star.

Perception
New Series Premiere: Monday, July 9, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
Season 1: 10 episodes
Drama fans are about to meet one of the most unique crime solvers on television when TNT premieres this fascinating new series about an eccentric neuroscience professor who is recruited by the FBI to help solve complex cases. Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Eric McCormack stars as Dr. Daniel Pierce, who possesses an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the way the mind works. Although Pierce’s mind may be brilliant, it’s also damaged as he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Perception also stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith and Kelly Rowan. Produced by ABC Studios, the series was created by executive producer Ken Biller and co-executive producer Mike Sussman, with McCormack serving as producer.

Eagerly awaiting Falling Skies, despite trepidation about ridiculousness coming out of the spaceship.

Perception has Ken Biller producing, who I didn't find to be too exciting on Voyager. He was primarily responsible for most of the final season in particular, which I consider by far the weakest. I fear that paranoid schizophrenia is going to be treated as a source of oracular wisdom beyond the limits of quotidian reasons. Seems dubious.

I'll be watching Falling Skies, of course, but I have to admit I'll probably watch the first episode of Dallas, just out of curiosity. I never really watched the original (except when Jenilee Harrison was on), but I admire them for doing an actual sequel, rather than a lame remake that twists the original concept beyond recognition.

Not sure-but they began filming about 2 weeks ago. Saw the tweet.

I want to see Dallas just to see if they have to wheel Larry Hagman out in a Professor X chair just to say one or two lines.

Re: TNT announces summer lineup (Dallas, Falling Skies, etc)

I gave up on Falling Skies last season and see nothing to draw me back in.

I'll probably tune in to see Linda Gray, Hagman and Duffy since to this day Dallas is one of my all time favorite shows but you simply can't recapture what made the original so great--I have never seen it happen(Melrose Place 2.0, 90210 2.0, Charlies Angels 2.0, The Karate Kid 2.0, Nightmare on Elm Street 2.0 etc etc). People will tune in wanting to see Sue Ellen, JR and Bobby but will be disappointed they are basically cameo players with the real focus on the kids. I don't care for Jesse Metcalf and think it was a poor casting choice.

I plan to watch Dallas. But then, I am old enough to remember the summer when all anyone talked about was who shot JR.

What about brevity?

They aired 10 episodes in 8 weeks.

WHAM!

it's over.

If you haven't seen Leverage, you should give it a try. It's very good. Kind of a modern Mission: Impossible.

I won some decent money over that. I can't believe how many people got it wrong.

Perception - Hopefully they won't make paranoid schizophrenia 'wacky and fun' like Monk did with OCD.

I've seen a few eps of Leverage. Meh. I think it's a lot less like MI and more likeit's trying to be The A-Team meets Burn Notice. I don't really like any of the characters, so just don't gravitate towards it. Just not my bag, I guess.
