This special project does not interest me.

Went to deposit some EC in the fleet bank but apparently can't at my current rank, so dropped a bunch of particle traces instead, feel free to put 'em up on the Exchange.

Hmm. My white armory officers are listed as options to supply the shipyard project, but they won't transfer correctly...

If those DOffs are currently on an assignment then they won't budge. Took me a little while to figure that out, so maybe that's the issue you're seeing.

It's possible, but I'm fairly sure they weren't assigned. The sort of mission they'd get used on, I don't chance Whites since they usually die faster than Mitt Romney at an NAACP meeting.

If your Doff is a fleet/base Doff, it can't be used in a project, and no, I have no way of knowing how to identify which is which.

While that is a user posting that, I did find from the dev's that everything is working as intended. In other words, certain Doffs you get from starbases will not work as contributable Doffs. I have encountered this myself, and it is frustrating.

Thanks J - was able to transfer yesterday without issue, must have been a rare assignment that a white shield distrib officer was useful for.

Sorry, haven't had much free time to play. Plus it seems like if I do get a small chunk of time that it's spent patching (I have a slow Internet connection). I will try to get on again tonight.

For someone with limited time, what's the best way for me to contribute? Thanks.

I run the quickest dailies for dilithium and drop it into the projects. Run the Officer Reports daily and search for "quick DS9" and the top hits can all be completed just by clicking a few interactables at the Bajoran Temple, netting 1440 dilithium and 50 Fleet Marks. That plus asteroid mining and the confrontation with the Breen ship to free the prisoners are easily done in 15 minutes without any combat.

Also run Doff missions that you are very likely to get critical successes on so you get 125 dilithium per success instead of 5.

A few days of the asteroid mining should also yield enough particle traces to sell for sufficient on the Exchange to buy Doffs or replicate shield gens/warp coils/stem bolts for the star base projects.

The KDF starbase has been a bit stagnant lately. I've done my best to contribute as much as possible to the fleet projects, but it's hard when you're the only person (or one of only a few) doing so.

Re: STO: TrekBBS Armada and House of TrekBBS - Fleet discussion and FA

Okay, I contributed a little. Even discovered by accident that I can tranwarp to the starbase. Have some questions though (pretend that I haven't had time to read any blogs about the starbases).

What will the starbase do for us? And how does that drive the goal/plan for improving the starbase? I see another fleet rushing be the first fleet to max out the military tier because they think it will give them an advantage in ship building and pvp.

I see that TrekBBS Armada is a level 4 fleet. What does that mean?

Someone donated a purple DOFF to a project. How does that work? I donated a white DOFF to a different project and didn't see an option to donate something of higher quality. I occasionally have surplus blue or purple DOFFs and woundn't mind donating to the fleet if it would give everyone a boost.

Thanks and I'll try to get around to reading up on the starbases this weekend. No promises though as I have a lot of chores lined up already.

The Fleet Starbase can be seen as a social zone for fleet members with facilities and services the can be gradually upgraded over time.

Some upgrades are for basic services that can be found on Earth Spacedock, such as tailors, banking, mail, bartender, etc... When fully upgraded, the starbase will essentially have most of the services that Earth Spacedock provides.

The more interesting upgrades will unlock the ability to purchase "Fleet" equipment, including Fleet Ships, Advanced and Elite variants of Ship Shields, Ship Deflectors, Ship Impulse Engines and Ship Weapons as well as Personal Shields, Personal Armor and Personal Weapons.

There are also upgrades that will unlock "Operational Assets" that allow players to summon various types of starships or ground personnel to assist you in various fleet actions. Another set of upgrades will unlock buffs that grant bonuses to all military/science/engineering skills.

Fleet Level has very little meaning right now. What's more important is the Starbase Tier. Right now we have a Tier 1 starbase, which roughly means we have unlocked a handful of Fleet Ships as well as Advanced (but not Elite) personal shields, armor and weapons.

As we upgrade the Starbase towards Tier 2, we will unlock Advanced ship shields, deflectors, impulse engines and more types of fleet ships. In fact, our Shipyard II upgrade should be completing in a day or two, which will unlock the following types of ships for members to purchase:
  • Fleet Star Cruiser
  • Fleet Reconnaissance Science Vessel
  • Fleet Escort Retrofit
  • Escort Retrofit

Most fleets place priority on upgrading their Shipyards as that will unlock more types of Fleet Ships that members can purchase. However, most fleets also neglect the fact that Provisions control the number of Fleet Ships as well as Advanced and Elite gear that members can purchase. The thing about Provisions is that it is *very much* cheaper to buy Provisions at Tier 1 than at Tier 5.

For our fleet, we place equal emphasis on upgrading the Shipyard as well as stocking up on provisions while they are still cheap. As a result, most fleets will upgrade their starbase a lot faster than we do as they chose not to stock up on Provisions.

That's because our starbase is at Tier 1. Most of the tier 1 upgrading projects only require white doffs. Keep your blue/purple doffs handy. We will need them when our starbase reaches Tier 3+.

Actually purple doffs are important for very specialiced upgrades, so far the Diff Personal. Installing the Doff Contacts for tactical, science and engineering required 3 different purple doffs each.

It denotes the threat level of the fleet. As the threat level goes up, you'll face more dangerous NPCs in the fleet events. For example at first you'll face Klingons and Orions, next it's Gorn and so on.
